Focal Listen Professional - Closed Studio Headphone

Bought as an addition for my home studio, these headphones have very quickly become my go to reference headphones for mastering and general production when its unfeasible to use monitors. Out of the box the headphones sound a little dull, I feel this is where a lot of the more negative reviews have stemmed from but after a good run in period for me was around 72 hours (typical of most High-end audio headphones and speakers) the sound really opens up. Lows sound controlled and precise with no muddy-ness and highs are sharp and snappy. My best advice for these looking at these headphones, without a headphone amplifier these can sound a little underwhelming, when used with an amplified source they get the power they need to sing.

Neutral, loud and more comfortable than the previous model. Love them! ❤️

First let me say: 1. I am a huge Focal fan. 2. I use a Sonarworks software that calibrates speakers and headphones. I have used these for mixing, with the calibration software obviously they are totally flat, and translation is great. But they are pretty good as they are without any software added. As for listening to music, they are really good, no software needed, their "sound coloration" is very pleasant for enjoying music. Only reason I give only 4 stars is that they get a tiny bit uncomfortable if used for a long period of time, and also the foam built (pads?) parts of these headphones tend to wear off relatively quickly.

Build quality is great! Nice case too. Sound quality is very good, but only after about 72 hours of burn in. Shrill highs and dull sounding mids at first, so I was initially disappointed. After 2 days of constant white/pink noise and sweeping frequecies the drivers sound rather good now.

Looks luxurious. And sound good too, though I prefer the sound of open headphones. But you know that when you buy these. Sturdy. And have a nice case to store them in. I really dislike the way the headband clamps my head too much, even after quite some months of use. And I also really dislike the plastic wire, which gives a lot of contactsound when it rubs your clothes.

Le casque est super, et je ferais le même retour que celui d'autres testeurs. Pour le peut qu'on ait des bons fichiers audio le son est propre sans fioriture sans excès. Il a une excellente isolation passive. Il est jolie. Les accessoires fourni sont intéressant. Pour les points négatifs Il tient chaud. On sent l'arceau sur le sommet du crane. (ce n'est pas douloureux on sent juste qu'il existe) J'ai manqué de chance mon modèle semblait avoir un défaut (je pense que c'était une visse mobile à l'intérieur du casque) Le service client du revendeur ILLEL a été rapide et pour le remplacement du casque. Je suis satisfait . Merci

Sooo since this is the most expensive pair of headphones I ever bought I can honestly say I’m not disappointed at all. I’ve owned plenty of headphones but not at this price range and I don’t consider myself an audiophile BUT I do know trash audio when I hear it (yeah I’m looking at you AirPods) most people think boomy bass and bright highs are quality headphones but I’d disagree. These headphones have such a natural sound to them and the voacals are so clean and clear, the soundstage is impressive, the range of these headphones are great. Bass is there but it’s not trying to replicate the sound of a subwoofer like the beats headphones try so hard to do. I haven’t noticed any distortion on the IPhone 6s so that’s a plus. One thing to note is if you don’t have a quality source for you music then results will vary think of these like a white car it will show dirty audio if it’s there. Noise isolation is great tho I will say the sound leakage is definitely there so keep that in mind if you’re around people. The comfort is pretty average to me but I have thick hair so it could be different for you.
