are all four of the vents on the side open on the adapter? i bought one for the same price but it got so hot that it melted the plastic and broke.

There are open vents on the power brick. The key is to unplug the power cord and purge power from Xbox one to insure that it isn't holding a current. This will allow it to not overheat like the one you purchased previously. I also invested in a small, cheap desk fan to keep air moving around the power brick when the Xbox one is running so the cooling fan doesn't have to work as hard.
