A matter of opinion.
A lot of people are interested in good writing pens. Many still use fountain pens. But these pilot v5 pens combine the best of two worlds. And there is the choice of extra fine, fine, . They use actual ink , not a gel. there is a see through barrel and the level of remaining ink can be viewed except at the very last when they continue to write while apparently dry. the point is a small metal tube. I'm not sure about the total of colored inks available. I know black and blue are featured. One cavete. they don't like airplane rides and tend to "spit up." Good luck. p.s. the color of ink is shown in a band around the box of twelve.. They write smooth as silk.

My favorite everyday pen
Always want a supply of these around. I reorder regularly, prompt service from seller. I wish bulk packs were available for the Deco colors as well.

The only pens I use
The only pens I use. Perfect fine point. They must be looked after though! Must be kept vertical with the point down or the tip dries out! Can't press too hard (again, the tip) ! But worth it! I just happened to see, during a TV interview in his home in Englewood Cliffs New Jersey, Tony Bennett pause as he picked up a pen to write something to say "these are the BEST pens!" It was a Pilot Precise V5 needlepoint! Yes!

From a long-time user of these pens
To me, these are the best available pens for general writing purposes. I have used this same Pilot V5 Extra Fine for about 20 years, and I have found no better writing utensil. I have noticed over the years that the pens do not last quite as long as they once did, but I buy a dozen at a time and that does not make a lot of difference. If you like precise and crisp writing, these are for you. They are a whole order of magnitude better than ball pens. No, I don't own stock in the company and I have no connection with it. I am just a professor who writes a lot when he is not using a computer.

Good for Lefties!
Pros:Surprisingly for a pen that has a "gel" type writing style it rarely smears which is excellent for left handed writers out there! Also in general the pen has a very crisp style and last for quite a long time.Cons:If you write with a vengeance (kind of hard) be careful because the tips on these pens are somewhat fragile and can become warped/bent preventing ink flow. Be especially careful of dropping it due to this, dropped one and the tip broke right off :( but good thing I have 11 more! :D. In general though because the pens write so easy, this shouldn't be a problem, just a tough habit to break after years of using BIC ballpoint pens and what not.Overall great, great, great product. Extremely satisfied!

Pilot Pens Make Their Mark
I have been using Pilot V5 Pens for many years because they never skip, make a steady fine line and don't require heavy pressure. I wish they lasted longer but that may be more a commentary on my usage than any fault or flaw in the pen. I don't and won't use anything else.

Lovely but dry out in odd spots
This was a splurge purchase and while I enjoy writing with them so much, the pens tend to dry out in odd spots. This isn't from use, it'll happen when it's capped tightly which means sometimes the first pen I grab doesn't want to write at all. And seeing as a pen has really one purpose in life, that means this really let me down.
