Complete Cantonese Beginner to Intermediate Course

Great book with sections of different activities and readings. The tones were important to learn for Cantonese and the book is somewhat challenging for me. My Cantonese become very rusty after going to university and I'm a native English and good Cantonese speaker from a Cantonese-speaking family. I can't read or write in traditional or simplified Chinese but the Jyutping/Pinyin is very helpful in helping readers like me to practice sentences with different tones. It says it comes with a CD but at the back of the book on the bottom right, it says there are audios clips on their website for free. Maybe a little false advertisement but you can find the audio recordings. You just need to make a quick account and find the book name and boom, the recordings are there! I would recommend anyone who's Cantonese is above a beginner to intermediate to get this.Would've been better if the book came with diagrams or more visuals, especially in the intro section for tones as sometimes it's hard to remember words or tones.

Really through book. My main issue with language learning books is too much content and no real explanation with regards to grammar etc. This book is set out perfectly, giving you a vocab list, and then testing your memory of not only those words, but in context and using the correct grammatical functions. Really fun and easy to follow. Would highly recommend, and as a teacher of English as a foreign language aswell it has even given me ideas on how to set out specific lessons. Fantastic book

Having previously studied mandarin to a low level I felt it was time to learn cantonese so I could stop being a useless gui lo. Love this book it's great!

I don’t have CD

i bought this with the intention of learning cantonese, but it never arrived with a CD. as a foreigner its useless to me without the audio, as i have no idea what the tones are supposed to sound like.i didnt get the opportunity to sit down and look at this book because of a car accident until now, and i'm disappointed because there is such great information here! they provide the chinese characters, romanization, as well as translation and have many questions for you to fill out and learn from. but this just isn't useful to me now. it feels like i wasted ~$40
