Its basically going to briefly slow down a theif. Its not super thick but flexible and can be used anywhere. Easy to use. Adjusts to situation.

Bought locks. For our bikes No need to purchase a sperate look.. Works great.

This review is for the Master Lock 8417D "Python" Adustable Locking Cable. I purchased the Python to use in conjunction with a Milwaukee 24" rolling tool bag. The Milwaukee is a terrific bag, but lacks the ability to lock it, or even a hasp or latch to which a lock may be mounted. I drilled a 1/4" hole in the front "foot" of the toolbox. That allows me to easily thread the Python cable (which is 3/16 inches in diameter) through the hole and wrap the cable around the toolbox. Once the cable is snug the lid of the toolbox is blocked by the cable. Simplicity itself. I'm not using the Python to prevent the tool bag from being rolled away; rather I want to secure the lid to keep out opportunists, curious folk and, especially, children. Working in someone's home with their children running loose is an invitation for the kids to grab something heavy or sharp from my bag and hurt themselves. The Python snugs the lid, allowing me a bit of piece of mind. As noted in other reviews, this cable is to "keep the honest people honest" - a good pair of side cutters can get through the cable without a whole lot of effort. That to me isn't a down check for my application - if I wanted more security I would use different tool box and a hardened chain. I've rated this unit at four stars because of the perceived weakness of the keys. Two are supplied with the Python, but they appear to be of the same quality as one would get with a decent set of luggage. Something more robust, even if it meant raising the market price of the Python to cover the increased cost, would be appreciated (at least by me, YMMV). The lock is not made in the United States, and doesn't appear to be outdoors friendly. If it gets wet I would advise giving it a dose of WD-40 (which isn't a terrific lubricant but does displace water extremely well). Also I think an occasional splash of lubricant (I'm thinking 3-in1 oil, or graphite) will help keep the internals working, although that isn't indicated on the packaging. The cable itself is coated and seems sturdy enough for my purposes. HTH Regards, Jim

We love these locks. I have 4, 3 for our RV securing things outside of our RV and one as a backup. They're simple to use and super sturdy. I really enjoy the length because I can loop them through the spaces in our power connection and our RV Starlink mount and still have plenty of slack. I also like that it locks anywhere along the cable, no specific spot that we have to get to for it to lock so we have as much or as little as we need. We've also had them outside in everything from blistering sunlight to icy slush and thus far they've been weatherproof. Awesome value for the money.

Easy to use. Is it going to keep criminals from stealing your stuff? Not for long, but it’s enough to maybe convince them to select a different target and provides a little peace of mind while you grab a snack or use the restroom.

Das hier ist nun glaube ich mein 5. Schloss dieser Art. ich befestige Wildkameras damit im Wald und habe wirklich nichts (!) was ich an diesen Schlössern aussetzen könnte (außer, dass ich 1 - 2 x vielleicht einen Meter mehr gebraucht hätte... aber das ist ja ein Nieschenproblem. Für Fahrräder, Motorradhelme, etc. ist das mehr als ausreichend seil. Volle Empfehlung vom Jäger KCQ.

Purchased to protect two, small, waterproof holdalls from casual theft, during motorcycle touring. The cable easily threads through GSA aluminium pannier loops and then through loops on the holdalls. The cable is then able to be locked at any length. These particular locks were chosen as they had a decent enough thickness of cable whilst also remaining flexible enough to thread easily. Discreet appearance and appear to be well made for what was a good price.
