Like any medical supply, you may have. In a cool, dry place. For example, store it in your dresser drawer or a kitchen cabinet away from the stove, sink, and any hot appliances. You can also store in a storage box, on a shelf in a closet. But mainly away from constant direct light, especially avoid direct sunlight for this product even more after combining the two parts for more effectiveness.

can you use it in a cool mist humidifier?

I disagree with the prior answer. I use 5 activated drops in my cool mist humidifier. Thus far, I've had no issues and my humidifier stays cleaner.

Does it last longer in glass bottles than plastic and would it make sense to transfer from plastic to glass?

For long term storage always better to be glass so none of the plastic leaches in to the fluid over time
