Universal Sofa Chair Recliner Release Pull Handle Replacement

Fitted new cable and recliner is working a treat. Thought i was going to need a new chair so I'm over the moon at the price of this little gadget

Good and easy to install

First time attempting a job like this but after watching utube was easy to fit.

The day I decided we needed to replace our 16 year old sofa set was followed by the recliner handle on my usual sitting spot breaking. Rather than sending it to the great sofa graveyard, I decided to look into a repair and I found this universal part which is exactly what I wanted. I received the part today which included a cable pull I didn't plan on using. Unfortunately, the entire part and cable needed replacing, because the cable was not compatible with the new handle, due to the method the handle secures the cable neck. It accepts a screw-in cable rather than a slide-in, which is held with a retaining pin/spring. This meant I had to use the cable that came with the part, which in turn meant I had to remove the old cable and install the new one. It was a little tricky. Firstly, the screw-in part is a bit fiddly and should be done before attaching the other end to the chair. The most awkward part was releasing the plastic clip which secures the cable to the metal frame. I had to melt the back section of the old one to get it out. This is why I gave 4 rather than 5 stars. The sofa has a few more years of life in it, which can be enjoyed by the next user after I take delivery of a new suite. Great product which saved this sofa from the dump.

I’m disabled and not very good at repairing items but this replacement handle and cable were so easy . I took the handle off first and fed the cable through the side of the sofa and trace the cable through and has I reach each section it was attached to the sofa I disconnected the old part and put the new in . And it works perfectly z. I was so please for less than £10 I repaired the sofa myself .

Good quality item, much better than the original one fitted. However, the exposed part of the cable was too long ( 12cm ). I required an exposed end of around 7cm, no fault of the part supplied. I resolved this by putting in a bolt, nut and washer through the hole where the end of the cable fits, allowing me to shorten the exposed side of the cable.

Did exactly what we needed

Unfortunately does not fit gplan recliner. Needs modification and cable about 6 inches longer
