I have tried different types of breeding boxes and I consider Fluval holding and breeding box the best among them. It has everything that you need for an aquarium hobbyist. The size is very convenient comparing to others while I wish if Fluval can make a bigger size also. This is a complete set and you won't regret buying it. I highly recommend it.

This breeding and holding box has been a fantastic addition to my aquarium setup! I really like having the option to create up to three separate compartments, which makes it incredibly versatile for isolating fish, protecting fry, or keeping smaller fish safely separated. The large size provides plenty of room without taking up excessive space in the tank, and the multi-chamber design makes managing multiple fish much easier. It feels sturdy, well-designed, and practical for breeding and quarantine needs. Definitely a great addition for any fish keeper who breeds or needs a reliable way to separate fish. This has made my guppy breeding experience so much easier. It was very hard to remove fry from the traditional mesh breeding boxes. Plus the material itself would grow algae, get a dirty oil film on top and was difficult to clean. It also was difficult to remain attached with cheap suction cups. This external breeding box is amazing! Can see more clearly, feed them with ease, i can clean mess from bottom of box with a turkey baster, without disrupting the fry and it just tops itself up. It is easy to net the babies out once they are old enough for the community tank. And so easy to feed multiple times a day for younger fry - as you only have to turn off the air pump, rather than all the filtration too. This has been one of my best fish keeping investments!

I’ve waited a week to share my thoughts on this external breeder and I have to say, it’s terrific!!! I was so nervous initially that it would leak and I’d come down in the morning and find tank water all over the floor but nope! It’s very easy to set up, my existing pump had two outlets one was feeding my sponge filter in the tank and the second one is now feeling the air tubing that is attached to the plastic tube that extends from the breeder to the tank. I have 12 2 week old guppy fry in it presently and they’re doing very well. Of course it keeps temperature as tank water is being pumped through all the time whilst being oxygenated and it’s easy to clean the bottom of, I just use a Turkey blaster which works really well. I do have some floating wisteria and cabomba which the fry like to hang out in. It has a wee plastic gate on the exit slide for the water to go back into the tank and the gate, of course prevents the fry from being washed into the tank with the water. I’ve tried internal breeding boxes and they’re all right but I love this one for ease and maintenance. Only downside for me is that I can’t completely close my tank lid so I’m topping up the tank water every 2-3 days, not a big deal.
