MENSI Portable Camping Grill Stove Parts 1lb Propane Tank Cansiter Regulator Adapter Connection Convert to 3/8" Male Flare

This piece is well machined, seals fully, and works as intended. With that said, there was a bit lost in translation in the product description. After I learned a bit more about propane fittings it all made sense. At first I thought the product was defective, and like some others, I thought that it was mis-manufactured and that the center valve did not depress as it should, not allowing a full flow of propane. I bought this to use with a hose attached to the exterior propane line at the back of my trailer that is controlled with a ball valve. This fitting was intended to adapt to our small portable grille, and our gas griddle, doing away with the need for the expensive and wasteful green disposable cylinders. Little to no propane would come through the fitting. So, the grille and griddle wouldn’t work at all, or would light with a very low flame, couldn’t be turned to high, or would go out. I had to buy some little green disposable cylinders, which this was meant to avoid. What was happening is that this CANNOT be used on a line that is already pressure regulated. It won’t function. It can only be used on a line that is full tank pressure. It’s a safety requirement, and is true of all fittings like this. The lines on trailers are already pressure regulated, thus this fitting won’t workr in that situation. My solution was to put a quarter turn ball valve tee at one of the tanks that sit on the tongue, along with a female quick connect fitting. Then, use a hose with a quick connect male hose barb on one end and a fitting on the other end that corresponds with this product. Once I plugged it altogether, and turned the ball valve, the line had full and pressure, and this fitting functioned fully. Both the grille and the griddle then performed flawlessly. When disconnecting at the tank, be aware the line is pressurized. This can be resolved by turning off the propane with the ball valve at the tank and letting the grille burn the remaining gas in the line, until the grille goes out on its own. In the event the hose should fail while the ball valve is open, the open flow safety valve on the tank would shut down the flow of propane, preventing a fire or explosive hazard. Now that I understand all this, I think this fitting is well made and functions as both intended and required.

Like everyone else has mentioned in the 1 star reviews, the valve stem is too short to engage standard propane devices. Does not work.

Works as described

I bought 3 of these and none of them will flow propane when combined with my G-works or Randder adaptors. These same adaptors work fine with my other hoses. Returns not accepted so buyer beware. I did measure 0.060 inch of travel on the safety valves when attached to two different G-works adaptors and 0.056 inch of travel on the Randder adaptor.

There maybe a tight fit without a leak in the beginning but as the gas chills the metal it contracts! It's no longer gas tight and will leak !
