Laptops for Seniors in Easy Steps ? Windows: For the Over 50s

I love the In Easy Steps books, but this is the only one I found just okay. While it has good information, much of it is covered in other books in their series much better. This book can be easily skipped and one wouldn't really miss anything covered in other more relevant books. There might be a couple of hardware suggestions you might not find elsewhere, but if you are dealing with hardware issues this book is not going to help much. Spending 15 to 20 minutes with a salesperson could give you the information you might pick up in this book and more relevant to the system you might actually use. Concepts it addresses like proper cleaning are covered in manuals you can download for free, and if you aren't aware, it's an electrical device so don't clean it with water or while it is powered on. A dry soft cloth and a can of pressured air to clean under the keys. Send donations to.... ;) It does cover basic tools within windows operating systems, browsers, and whatnot, but again, go straight to their book on the specific Operating System and you will learn a considerable amount more and save the few hours it would take you to go through this one. Still this is a great series, in my opinion. Would recommend it to someone who has had no exposure to a laptop at all.

A good book for people upgrading to newer version of Windows. Lots of detail.

Nothing wrong with being an older adult, but I for one and sick and tired of AARP and other companies/authors messing with age in order to get more attention and more $.
