Ham station running DC to daylight frequencies. This radio filled the vhf marine band allowing better allocation of other equipment.

I admit I have used standard horizon vhfs my whole 20 year career as a professional mariner so I was happy to buy one for my new charter boat. Then it rained. Lightly. Next morning, I see this massive condensation under the supposedly waterproof marine radio screen. Worst part? I bought it on Amazon instead of west marine. I messaged about returning the defective item and getting a refund, and instead I got a convoluted email with a million directions on how to send it in for repair. I buy on Amazon because when I don’t get what I want, I send it back no questions asked for my money back. Not this time. Very disappointed in both Amazon and the seller. Look at the photo, it’s clearly not meeting the standard for a marine radio.

This VHF is much smaller than my previous one, it has a clear and visible screen not difficult to read in direct sun. I recommend purchasing a cover for the unit if it’s going to be stored. My previous unit screen burned out due to the sun. This unit seems well made. Hardware was included. MIC felt good quality aswell
