UNV24264 - Golf Pew Pencil 144/box

I was surprised how small the box was, but pleased with the quality of the pencils that arrived. Definitely worth the money. I teach first grade, and this will definitely be helpful for my autistic students along with those who do not take good care of their normal length pencils.

Small and useful. Already sharpened and ready to go

These pencils were just what I was looking for, a large quantity for a low price- this way I don't mind if they walk away. Also after a couple sharpens, they are shorter and then require students to use the intrinsic muscles in their hand to write- this helps to strengthen the students hands. I would love them more if they had something on one end of the pencil so that the students don't sharpen both ends, but then again eraser caps can help solve this problem and give a cleaner erase. I also like that they came pre-sharpened! However, it is a good idea to invest in a handheld sharpener, they become hard to hold or stuck in electric sharpeners. There are plenty of pencils in this box any I would happily order them again when I run out of them.

I bought these so I could scatter them all over the house and always have something to write with. They are small enough to fit nearly anywhere, and there are enough of them to have them in as many places as you would like, just like buying a bunch of guitar picks so you know there's always one in your pocket. The quality is fine for what it is, but don't expect a top of the line writing utensil. You would be hard pressed to write anything long format with them, they are too short and wear out too fast. But if you need something for quick notes (like say, golf) these will fit your need

As a teacher, it’s nice to loan students pencils without caring if you get them back. And it’s amazing how often they remember to give you back your pencils when they have no eraser and are only a few inches long. Also made for a great bandolier for my son’s Office Rambo costume this Halloween.

Bought these with a pack of 144 smiley eraser caps. The reason I ordered these is because our kids were forever losing pencils we had at home. Of the ones that did not get lost, a few months after school starts we consistently found the lead was broken or worn down and it was a hassle to re-sharpen them--oh, and the cute pencils never seemed to fit right in our sharpeners either, so we kept investing in electric sharpeners and still had issues. I figured these are economical enough that if they get lost or broken, it's not the end of the world. I am over having the mess and annoyance of regular pencils for home use. These are really cute, no complaints from the kids at all, and I am very glad I bought these.

As a high school teacher who finds that students are all too often unprepared, these are a great and cost effective solution to the problem of students forgetting to bring pencils. I tried purchasing regular pencils for my students' use, but they "disappeared" quicker than I could buy them. These pencils are great because while students do have something to do their work with, they hate using golf pencils enough that they are usually prepared with their own materials the next day. If they complain about the lack of erasers, I simply tell them, "don't worry, you can just cross out." It doesn't hurt that even if some of these do "disappear," it certainly won't break the bank at 144 pencils per box. Overall these are great and I will continue to purchase them for use in my class.

Over the two decades I've been teaching, an unsettling phenomena has emerged - the chronically unprepared student. Where once I would have to dispense a handful of pencils over the year, I find that I have a growing number of students who are not coming to class with a pencil. Sheesh. Even with detentions and other time-honored tactics to address this behavior, my legion of unprepared students - largely boys - was epic. I tried pink pencils. I tried hello kitty pencils. I tried barbie princess pencils. My high school boys loved them. They hate golf pencils. "Mister, don't you have a real pencil?" "Why, yes, I do - I have several in fact." "Can I have one of those?" "No - these are mine. There are some just like these waiting for you at the store. I recommend you pick some up.
