Blown away by the quality, Fxxxxxl Design should be scared!
I was originally going to go for a Define C Mini, my brother had the case so I had hands on experience and new how good it was. However I took a gamble on this one, I loved the aesthetic, the Define series is looking old now! The gamble paid off, the case is solid, all surface finishes are top notch, foam and rubber everywhere you would want it, both for silence and for protecting components. All the tool-less cages are super nice, everything on this case is well thought out and just pretty clever design. I would fully recommend this case for anyone building a mini professional powerhouse, hint - Ryzen 3.. Like buying a decent monitor or power supply, I can already see this case will last me for years to come and future upgrades when needed. For reference, my system has a 3600 combined with the founders 2060 super, CPU cooler has a Noctua NH-D9L, a NF-S12B on the rear exhaust, and 2 NF-P12's on the front intake. Very happy with the temps, even under load with some minor overclocking. Hope this review helps some design oriented individuals happy!

Great Quality Case
The quality of build of this case is superb. There has been so much thought put into designing and making it, I was surprised. The space provided for cables behind the motherboard is really useful, as is the same above the motherboard, at the top of the case where you more often than not need to plug the auxiliary power cables in. Things like the captive thumb-screws for the case sides, the appropriately placed attachment-points for cable straps and the oh-so-rare these days, optical drive bay, show CoolerMaster have really though things through. As they have with the many fan/cooler mounting-points and options. The push-pin mounting for SSDs is clever, so you can mount behind the motherboard and on top of the PSU tunnel, feels a bit odd but works. Proper screws would be more secure but limit where the SSD could be put. I do really like this case for all the thought that went into it, the plentiful accessories and the sheer quality of build. It's as solid as a rock.

A Shrunken down version of the Define 7
I wanted to upgrade my PC case and I liked the look of the Fractal Design Define 7, but while the 7 case is very good its also very big, very heavy and much more expensive. I wanted a case that was very quiet, had good thermals and could accommodate a few SSD‘s, and most importantly can accommodate an optical drive. (Basically a smaller version of the Define 7) So I opted for the Coolermaster S400,(non windowed version) Image a Case the size of a Fractal Design Define C mini and the appearance of a Define 7, and that’s what the S400 is! ( Its like the smaller relative of the Fractal Design 7 Case! ) The front filter is near identical to the Define 7, and the front layout is a shrunken down version of the Define 7! Building in it was very easy and straight forward - I removed the preinstalled fans and replaced them with 2x Noctua NF A14 fans and the rear with a Noctua NF A12 fan, the MOBO was an AS Rock z390m and the CPU Cooler was a NH U12S, The PSU was a Corsair 0 rpm version and the graphics card was a GTX 1060 6gb (Blower version) Cable management was plentiful, and problem free- even when I put on cable extensions! After starting the PC up I found it to be insanely quiet, so quiet you cant tell if its on, and the CPU temperatures are around the mid to high 20’s when doing things like surfing the net, playing Football Manager, watching blu ray disks and doing everyday things on it,- not bad when the CPU is an i7 8700k! The temps on the GPU are equally as impressive, again mid-high 20’s.( I think by using a blower GPU, this helped reduce the temperature inside the case.) The only 2 things that I would say let this case down (and this is my personal opinion!) is the location of the SSD’s on the rear of the motherboard- the temps are around 33 degrees, to some this is acceptable, but by putting them in the hard drive caddy (with the help of a 2.5” adaptor) the temps dropped down by about 6 degrees. The other thing that I did was to put the case on some rubber feet to improve ground clearance, as the case is less than 1 cm of the ground and I felt this could affect the PSU airflow-again this was my personal preference, The front USB 3 ports are very useful and I feel that Coolermaster should of put in a USB 2 port, instead of a SD Card reader, (with a USB 2 port, you could use it for a wireless keyboard/mouse) Before I built my PC I was seriously considering the Fractal Design Define 7, but due to the size and weight I opted for something as near to as possible but smaller, and the Coolermaster S400 is just that. I wanted a very quiet PC case not to big, but equally not too small that could hold a Blu Ray Drive, SSD’s and at the same time house a good air cooler and would result in very good thermals, and this case does the lot! I’m very happy with the case and I would recommend it!

Awesome compact case
Downsized to this case from a mid tower since I am only using an mATX motherboard, and I'm loving it so far. The build quality is great and the airflow and thermals are decent for a quiet case. Looks very sleek and compact on my desk. The solid steel side panel is great as I don't care about showing off my internals and don't have to worry about shattering any tempered glass. Main issue I have with it is the PSU dust filter under the case. It is a filmsy metal mesh that is held in place by small flaps and feels cheap for something this price point. Should have been magnetic or a sliding filter like the 4000d airflow. Would be great if there is a version without the optical disk drive bay and instead allow mounting of 3 120mm fans in the front.

Perfect case for AV work
I do both audio engineering and 3D work, so I needed a case that could be quiet when I was recording and cool when I was rendering. This case has been perfect. First, it's made from quality steel, every plate and component feeling tough and well made. Then it's got so many terrific options. The front panel can be opened wide to allow unrestricted airflow or closed for silent work. The noise level drops significantly when the panel is closed due to the sound absorbing padding built into the door. Also, the door is reversible; I reversed mine as soon as it arrived. It's not a super easy process to do, so it's not something you'd want to do multiple times, but it's easy to enough to get done. And it's worked perfectly since I reversed the panel. Further, the top of the case has an opening that can be filled with a magnetically placed sound-baffled panel for quiet work or a dust filter more cooling. I'm currently keeping the panel in and while components do get warm, they never get dangerously warm. The two built-in fans that come with the case are silent at 500 rpm but push plenty of air at 1500. When I'm rendering something, I can set the fans to full-speed and let it go, and the components never overheat. Of course, it's noisy at that point, but audio editing never gets that demanding on the components. Finally, the top panel is super useful. The built-in USB ports are USB 3.2 Gen 1, so they take full advantage of my USB thumbdrives. The built-in SD card reader is USB 2.0, so it's slower than it should be, but just having it there is super useful without having to get an extra component for my desktop. The lights are very discrete. The power is indicated by a single dim light on the top of the case and the reset button is combined with the drive access light. Also, the headphone jack works perfectly and is very sturdy. I actually had an accident where I yanked on the headphone cable while it was plugged in, bending the plug of my headphones hard. Despite ruining the headphone cable, the plug in the case was unharmed and still works perfectly. This box is TOUGH. It's not pretty. On my desk it looks like a big black tomb. My CPU cooler is programmed to change to red when it's getting warm, and I am able to see the light from the cooler against the inside of the case through the front filter, so I usually leave the door open so I can peek in. But it is hard to see in a fully-lit room. I will likely try to add an RGB strip at some point to make watching that color change easier. But this box is just what I needed. It's versatile and practical, can be silent when it needs to be and allow airflow when required. Also it comes complete with all the screws and risers and every part you need. It has a lot of versatility in that you can reposition the drive chassis and remove the 5.25" drive bay to add more fans. I've removed both just to open up the air flow. And I had no trouble running cables behind the plate for easy cable management. Really happy I found this perfect AV computer case.
