Uro style plug
Purchase for a hot water pump and didnโt want to run an electrical line I added an extra ground wire. 220 to 110v works great I was afraid It would be under sized the pump had no amp rating motor was one fifth hp.

Proper DownConverter
The transformer is perfect for converting mains 230V AC to 115V AC. Because I stay in a 230V AC country, this device supplies my American and Japanese equipment that works with 115 AC. It is a real transformer with sinusoidal waveform. It should work fine in 220-240V countries to down convert to 110 - 120V I am confident there is no danger of damaging my equipment. I got the 500W model and that is good for devices consuming 1W - 400W in total. It however has a 600 ohm resistance between the primary and secondary earthing, but that is good for avoiding earth loops in audio and video devices.

This is a solid product, and is well-made. The cord and plug seem strong. I'll give an update when I return from India to let you know how things went.

perfect
I am an Officer on a cruise ship and needed a transformer for continuous use in my cabin to run my USA appliances such as small refrigerator . First unit arrived and was damaged during shipping. The unit was hit in the only place I believe could have been damaged, the fuse holder. Amazon immediately sent out a replacement unit and it works perfectly. Completely silent and more than enough to handle refrigerator, clock and electric toothbrush I have plugged in.

Perfect
This transformer does a great job. I used it on a trip overseas with an air mattress I bought for my aunt as a gift. It worked great, we had no problems at all. If you're looking for a good powerful transformer for your item, this is the one. It is a bit bulky at around 7 lbs, but definitely worth taking it along and worth the extra money.

Works, but has cold solderings
Before buying this one, trying to filter through all the reviews, my interpretation was that it will do its job, although there is a lack of quality control in the plant - at least when it comes to the solderings, coil integrity, have no means of testing now. I had one cold solder in mine, on the primary side. It works out of the box though, but I would advise to check it before you start using it. I am still in the US, but am running it redneck style after my 1500W step up transformer, just to check it. I do not know how hot the coil will run with a higher continuous load though, but I was only planning on using this for the smaller things, and bought a THG2000, for the larger loads. With the bulky weight, this would not be for air travel, but a couple in different sizes for a relocation is the best purpose for this design in my opinion.

-5 stars!!
You have to be kidding me! I found a 1600w step-down from Brookstone that is super light. This one is only 50w, which would've been fine, but Due to the fact that it weighs about 10-15lbs, I think not!! Not convenient for travel. Also, when I unpacked it, it was dented in (NOT good for electrical equipment, and it had a funny electrical smell. I wouldn't trust this thing with the cheapest appliance. This is going back.

Works great and well built
Seems to work great after 3 months and looks like it is built very well. Easy to use, and pretty basic. We took a 220volt well pump, and dropped it down to 110 for a water softener because we had no neutral to get 110. I am happy with the product so far.

Good value, poor quality control but it can be fixed.
Like other reviews, for the value this unit is great, the transformer is nicely constructed, the design is simple and it really does have the potental to run 100,000 hours before needing to be replaced, but the soldering inside the unit leaves very little to be desired, most of the conections could be simply pulled off by hand, now it's nothing that can't be fixed in five minuites, you will need a #2 philips screwdriver a soldering iron and some electrical solder, and solder every connection and make them solid , but being new you shouldn't have to do this. So unless your willing to open it up and use a soldeing iron to fix the quality control issue and end up with a good 240 to 120 volt converter, you might want to look at something else, especally if your going to be luging this item half way across the world.. Tip for the manufacture, you need to do two things if your going to use lead free solder correctly, you need to use the correct flux and the correct temperature so you don't end up with broken / cold solder joints and also sticking the wire though the holes drilled in the fuse holder and receptial end also would make soldering them easier and the joint stronger. But now I've take care of those issue I do expect it to last the next decade, running in a country with questionable electrial grids and constant voltage issue (both over voltage and under voltage)
