Imagine a world of incredible color and beauty. Of crabs wearing jellyfish for hats. Of fish disguised as frogs, stones and shag carpets. Of a kaleidoscope of underwater life. Now, explore it in FULL HD on Blu-ray 3D. The makers of Deep Sea and Into the Deep take you into the waters of the Great Barrier Reef and other South Pacific realms, as Blu-ray 3D immerses you as never before possible in the comfort of your own home. Enter the exciting next dimension in home entertainment! Review: OUTSTANDING! - As a SCUBA Instructor and an owner of my first 3D TV, I highly recommend this! I was a bit disappointed in the 3D movies that I've seen. The 3D was good, but I wanted to see what 3D could really do. I wanted in my face 3D effects. This DELIVERS! How about dolphin fish swimming up to your nose? I'm sure you will also reach out to touch them. The photography is fantastic. Nothing beats diving, but this is about as close as you can get without getting wet. Plus, it would require many dives and thousands of dollars to travel to prime reefs to see all that is delivered in this movie. As a PADI instructor, I'm proud that PADI is a contributor with its Project Aware, the purpose of is to protect the world's reefs as we are literally killing them with our pollution, human waste, climate warming, fishing practicing and at the bottom is poor diving practices and lack of buoyancy control. Never touch any coral! I keep my hands clasped while diving. It just kills me to see divers destroying our reefs. There is massive damage to what were beautiful reefs in the Florida Keys. It breaks my heart to see reefs that I onced dived on, now totally dead and absent of fish. I no longer travel to the keys and I avoid cattle boats full of poorly trained, over-weighted divers, who break reefs with every kick. You will definately enjoy this film. My only complaint is I wanted it to be longer! I will be watching it again. Hopefully, it will make you want to learn how to dive. Find a good instructor who teaches you to use the right amount of weight and who teaches you how to achieve neutral buoyancy. Of the certified divers, that I didn't train, coming into my advanced classes, none were weighted properly and didn't have a clue how to do so. One 95lb woman had 24lbs of weight, when she needed 7lbs. Buy this one! (forgive me and my soap box, please!) Review: Oooooh! Cool 3D, plus a beautiful educational program - If you want to show off your 3D TV, this is the DVD to buy because it uses the new technology to its fullest as the camera explores the oceans of the Coral Triangle where a wealth of odd and diverse marine life lives. Narrator Jim Carrey is subdued (too subdued, though, because at times it sounds as though he's trying too hard to be flat) as he guides viewers through the wonders under the surface: cuttlefish, sharks, sea lions, frog fish, jelly fish, sea snakes, whales, sea dragons -- the works. The 3D effect makes the underwater scenery stunning as fish float toward and away from the viewer, snap at prey, dive and twist through the water. Even better, the details about the lives of these marine animals is fascinating, and both kids and adults should be enthralled. For us, this is the go-to film to demonstrate the effects of our Samsung 3D TV. It's not too long, but is packed with visual beauty and educational information. I could watch it a dozen times and not get bored. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Possibly the best application of 3D among Blu-Ray 3D discs so far
This disc represents the best example of 3D photography available for Blu-Ray 3D at this time (17-Nov-2010). And, where one might fear that it would be undermined by insipid commentary from Jim Carrey, that fear turns out to be misplaced, with only a few brief exceptions. Having done 3D (it should really be called "stereo") photography in the past, I can say that there are ways to do it well, and ways to do it poorly. Poor technique, and/or difficult subject matter, lead to artifacts (like distracting cases of the left image bleeding through into the right image, and vice versa - imperfect presentation technology is a factor in such cases, but stereo photographers know they face such problems, and failure to allow for them shows a lack of care) and, in extreme cases, even to difficulty in mentally assembling the 3D scene. The stereo photography on this disc is not perfect in every case, but, overall, it is the best I've seen yet from any Blu-Ray 3D title (and I've bought all of the IMAX conversions available to date, and several of the few available films). Sit directly in front of your TV, and you can reach out and touch many of the creatures they've captured. It is a thing of beauty. (You will, for instance, probably never see a potato cod captured more perfectly.) In the rare cases where quality problems emerge it is in situations where stereo photography is just plain problematic - scenes with significant, but unpredictable, depth of field, high contrast elements, and subjects whose proximities to the camera(s) vary uncontrollably, leading to excessive parallax at times. I have no idea what equipment the photographers who made this IMAX film worked with, or what the state of the art currently is (or was at the time), but, in my experience, they'd have been hard-pressed to do better in practice. If I were to pick any of the currently available Blu-Ray 3D titles to show-off 3D (stereo) television, or just for the pleasure of repeated viewing, this is the one I would choose.

Nice...
Really nice documentary the 3d looks impressive and its quite accurate. Its not changing balances all the time so you can just sit back and enjoy 3d without straining your eyes.. IMAX3D standard is really one of those things (to me anyways) that i watch for the effects. The IMAX 10seconds countdown before the movie begins always blows me away. I use Panasonic Pt-at7000u and BMT310 and at 140" screen it looks very impressive. There is a scene with a lot of tiny silver fish swimming together at the bottom of the sea. That scene will show you if your 3D balance has been set correctly. If it hasn't the 3D will look out of place, if if has been balanced correctly you should see every little fish in perfect 3D without any shadow effect. Bottom line is that its well worth the money. And there is that one scene where the couple of small fish are cleaning the big cod fish. It looks sooooo real its crazy. That 10 second scene is the most impressive 3D I have ever seen on my system and It's worth the money for that alone ;-) Buy it, Enjoy it.... I give 4 stars because in my opinion EVERY BLURAY and 3D movie should have calibration screen in order to set your system up 100% before you start watching. Video and audio set up would be nice just to check your 3D balance and surround.

best movie for showing off your 3D TV
This movie has it all - stunning colors, beautiful photography, 3D content that pops out and a variety of sea creatures which is perfect to show off your 3D TV to friends and family. There are also more 'wow' moments here than any other 3D titles I own. I agree with some reviewers who said that the commentary by Jim Carrey was a little timid and the music seemed to drown him out at times. Other than that, and the content being only 41 minutes, this is an excellent bang for the buck. I have a LG 55LW6500 and had purchased the following titles: IMAX Hubble 3D, IMAX Ocean Wonderland 3D, 3D Safari Africa and IMAX Under the Sea 3D. My rating would be 2.5/5, 3/5, 4/5 and 5/5 respectively based on 3D content and entertainment value. Out of all these titles, only this movie has a pop out that feels like it is right in front of my face. Unfortunately it was brief but it was quite a trip to see everyone trying to touch the fish. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of great pop outs and 3D content but this one scene I felt came out much further than in any other 3D movie I listed above. At the end of the movie as the credits are rolling, I was pleasantly surprised to see some 'bubble effects' that kept everyone entertained till the end. And oh yea, lots of cuttle fish as some reviewers have mentioned. I wish they didn't cover the mating habits of cuttlefish as much coz it became a little difficult to answer questions like 'dad, what are they doing? What just happened?' but nonetheless, its still amazing content overall. Agree with the Editorial Reviews and I highly recommended this movie as a 3D showcase.

Amazing...great 3D! great content! Sea Dragons!!! & a few laughs thrown in too
If you love going to aquariums to see the amazing fish & sea life, especially the ones that live around coral reefs...then this movie won't disappoint you. I saw a Leafy Sea Dragon & a Weedy Sea Dragon for the first time in my life a few years ago at the Atlanta Aquarium. They totally amazed me, I never knew anything like that existed. The next time I visited the aquarium, I was disappointed because I couldn't find them. So, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw them, in 3D, on this dvd! I shouted out to my family...'Oh, my gosh, a Weedy Sea Dragon!!!' Then a short time later, the Leafy Sea Dragon was on the screen! To see them in their natural habitat was absolutely amazing to me. I was shouting out other things too..'A Nautilus!' 'A Lionfish!' 'There's a Stone fish!' One family member must've jumped 3 or 4 times as an unsuspecting fish would suddenly meet its demise as another would suddenly lunge out & swallow it. I almost forgot to mention the big-eyed seals that were fascinated with the camera...so cute, we couldn't help but say, 'Awwww' This video is not only filled with incredible sights & beauty, but is informative too. Jim Carrey, the narrator, even throws in a few laughs. Through one of Amazon's deals, I was fortunate enough to purchase this amazing dvd for $17.99. The 3D is incredible. (Well there are a few times that some of the close-up 3D bothered me; when that happened, I'd look at a scene that was farther back). If you don't have 3D, this DVD can be watched in 2D also.

Better 3D movies have come out since this one
It was really just "okay." I read the review from back in 2010 when the guy said it was the best example of 3D to date. Well that date has passed and there are better ones out there. Don't get me wrong, it's still a really great 3D movie. The potato cod was awesome, just as reported, and to be honest the fact that it's only 40 minutes is just fine. Any longer and it would have gotten mighty monotonous. The oceans are vast and wonderful places but once you've seen a school of fish comin' at ya' and the green leafy fish floating around, you've seen most of the movie. Like most people I was turned off a bit by the fact that Jim Carrey would be narrating but he doesn't make a mockery of it at all (maybe one or two "one-liners"). If your 3D TV has Vudu, check out another ocean 3D movie called Amazing Ocean. In fact, you can preview a bunch of 3D movies but you have to select the 2-minute preview, NOT the trailer. I only saw 2 minutes of Amazing Ocean but oh my gosh it was incredible -- and only 2 minutes in! If you thought the potato cod was spectacular in this movie because it really came out of the screen, wait until you see this one. Amazing Ocean came out in 2013 (as opposed to this one that came out in 2010) and the improvements are ...amazing! You cannot purchase it on Vudu (only rent) but you can purchase it here on Amazon. The first review for this DVD was back in 2010 and now it's 2014 -- I can't wait to see the type of 3D movies they'll have in 2018!

Great 3D, Get Them Both!
We have never owned a 3D TV set before, so getting a 3D movie was the first on the list. We wanted to get something that can be shared with our friends and family members with less critical dialogues, so the full featured 3D movies were out for now. After a little bit of research, we found this title and its twin brother Deep Sea . We went back and forth to choose only one, but they both had great reviews. Finally, we decided to order both, the single disk versions, and we couldn't be happier. The picture and 3D look awesome on either disk, and since they are very short, you can easily watch them back-to-back. We also did demo the disks on some occasions for our guests, and they all liked them so far. Deep Sea is narrated by Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, and as other reviewers have mentioned, they did a better job than Jim Carry's voice in Under the Sea. However, both my wife and I liked the colors of Under the Sea better. Under the Sea is more colorful and the "Potato Cod" scene is just amazing in 3D. I think both Under the Sea and Deep Sea are great movies to have in your 3D collection. They are very short, only about 45 minutes each, so one may say price is a tad high on these titles; however, rest assured that you'll find more opportunities to watch and share these with your friends than the full length 3D movies. Besides, you can always get the single disk versions at a lower rate.
