Royal Shimmer

These are great. We have three sets (all but the fluorescent ones) and use them often, they always work and aren't showing any signs of running out soon. We usually use them on newsprint with a second sheet below, and that's sufficient that they don't bleed through to the table. The ink dries in minutes, even if an area is saturated. We've left them open for ~30 min, they're still fine. Some of the other reviews mentioned staining, but I've had no trouble - ink may leave a little colored residue on the skin after gentle washing, but just for a day and it's no worse than any other marker or paint that we've used. They really are glittery, too. The ink goes down without much shimmer, but the glitter is more evident as it dries. You can layer different colors while the page is till wet, they don't get muddy. Good toys. Update in late 2015 - they're still going strong! We still love 'em. They've come out a few times a month for more than 5 years!

Its adorable to have this version of dot a dot markers sparkle! My child loves all the dot a dot markers and enjoys these just as much. A great gift idea for art lovers or a very nice addition to a classroom/nursing home art supplies

This product is wonderful. I took my 6 year old daughter to a children's museum and these markers were available in their art room. My daughter couldn't get enough of these. They are easy to use and she loves the shimmer colors. She has been decorating our house with all kinds of new pictures she has created using these markers. They are easy to use and no mess. You can't go wrong with these.

I am not sure what all the hubbub is on here about Do-A-Dot markers being super-staining. While we have not actually dumped the ink out of these things to ensure they won't stain my carpet, my daughter is definitely not "careful" with them and we've never had a problem. They certainly come off a kitchen counter, a wood floor, an IKEA desk, windowsills, and a coffee table. They also come off her skin just fine. And so far I have not encountered stains on her clothing which tells me laundry detergent is at least getting it off her sleeves/cuffs. Not that I would recommend doing these on carpet, or giving them to a hyperactive child, but they are SO much fun, it's hard to not recommend them. My four year old, six year old, and even my seven year old enjoy them. They are very different from regular markers or paints--a great experience of their own. And I give this set in particular five stars because the regular Rainbow set is missing pink and purple, which most little girls really want. I'm not sure they "shimmer" in any true sense--they don't have glitter or sparkles in them--but the silver and yellow-gold colors are nice to have. Just FYI, the purple, yellow, and blue are NOT repeats from the Rainbow pack. They are different shades, so I appreciated that.

My 2YO daughter used these at her school and grew to love them. I wanted to get her a set for home because she really likes art. The price was ok. If you live near a Michael's, they have the original colors and you can use a coupon to bring the price down. I do like these "shimmer" colors, though. They don't really shimmer much, but they are pretty and pleasant.

Yes, I know it's there in the title of the product, but I want to reiterate that shimmer means shimmer. You might even miss it at first, in certain lights. But it's quite subtly pretty when you get used to it. I do have an issue with this being a 5-pack in a box that fits six, though. It always feels like we've lost one until I remember.

Do A Dot has been in our house for YEARS! Six kids in 15 years and I am now only on my third box. The colors are bright and the shimmer ones are perfect for a little girl! These last a LONG time and are so much fun. Print some pages off the internet and go to town!

Nice colors! If my daughter press it much it splashes.. wasnt very easy to wash.. but all in all we love it

Not really shimmery at all. Impossible for my daughter to use as they need to be squeezed quite hard to get anything to come out. Over all very dissapointing, especially for the price.
