Knightsbridge SN8300 2-Way Pull Cord Switch, 10A

I purchased this for use in my bathroom and needed a 2 way switch version for a change of light operation I intended to do. There has been a change in the rules about what and where you can do work in a bathroom, so you need to check that your project is in accordance with the rules. It was reliable and easy to install. The look and feel was good and fitted exactly where the old one was situated. You need to be competent to be able to fit this and of course the supply must be cut off. I am competent because I was trained in electricity and electronics for a living. You must have an electricity detector that gives a warning if there is electricity live in the circuit you are about to work on. They are reasonably cheap to buy and so you can make sure there is definitely no power present before you start work. I would not undertake this work if I had not been trained. I suggest you employ an electrician to fit this for safety if you are not competent.

Easy to fit , purchased as a like for like switch. good quality, looks good , no issues with the switching. Neutral colour. Previous one lasted 12 years. The plastic fitting that connected the switch to the pull string broke as it was brittle . Can’t complain after more than a decade of use.

Had to wiggle the cord just to get it to work not sure on longevity as straight out the box didn't work managed to get it working how long no idea

This product is reasonably priced, inoffensive looking and works. It comes without screws or rawl plugs to attach it to the ceiling. In order to introduce wires through the base of the switch (the part that attaches to the ceiling) it is necessary to drill out the plastic base. In order to be certain of not breaking the whole base I thought it advisable to drill about ten holes. It would have been child's play to manufacture the base with an appropriately sized hole. Given that doing this would have involved using less plastic it is particularly surprising that the cheeseparing manufacturers choose to use almost solid plastic instead.
