Great workbook!
I appreciate this workbook very much. I have enjoyed teaching with this. In general, the lessons are pretty self explanatory, so I just focus on giving guidance in the beginning and the end (for review). Sometimes the tasks are not so clear, but that's just when I get more involved and the children can run with the task. It is very well organized, structure wise. The only downside is that I have to make copied of the weekly evaluation sheet. I think this should have been implemented somehow at the end of each lesson.

Structure to help students understand the traits broken down for success.
This makes writing more concrete for students who need it. Good for tier 2 and 3 students.. The lesson plans are right in the book and can be delivered by a substitute or paraprofessional as well as a teacher. Each lesson includes worksheets which help students think about the topics in a controlled manner with picture supports and structure. Gradually move to less structure through additional practice with each lesson topic.

Keeps things fresh through summer
We got the daily math, writing, and reading books to keep my 6yr/o's mind fresh over the summer. She loves doing the work because it is so short and she gets to show off her skills. A single day in the book is like 2-4 questions and they are presented in fun ways that are not overwhelming and don't take more than a few minutes to complete. I went with the 1st grade level because that is what she is heading into in the fall, but I feel like these are almost too easy for her. Maybe they'll get tougher as the weeks/pages progress, but it's not a big deal if they don't because my intent is just to keep these things in her mind so she doesn't fall back.

too easy for my little
It is a really nice and easy book for your kids, but maybe it is too easy, my little felt bored for this one

Homeschool Writing Curriculum
I LOVE this writing program! I love the worksheets and daily practice. I love the writing prompt at the end of the week. In my opinion this is the only writing program you need. With very little imagination it can be your complete writing program. I base my opinion on the fact that I've been homeschooling for three years and was a public school teacher for 15 years.

I purchased the grade 1 and 2 editions of Daily 6-Trait Writing. I find them to be valuable in my classroom as it is reproducible and presented in an easy to follow format for students. Some of my grade 2 students are not quite ready to use the grade 2 version yet and will begin with the grade 1 book, so it helps me to differentiate instruction in my classroom.
