Cheap And Image Quality Reflects
This lens is an example of getting what you paid for; it's another of the many cheap wide angle lenses available. It will give a wide angle view, but the optic aren't very good and I didn't find it satisfactory even for everyday use. I mounted it on my Canon Vixia HF100 digital video camera. Like most of the cheap wide angle lenses, it will cut off the corners of the image frame (vignetting) as the lens isn't physically big enough. The diameter of the wide angle lens at its widest point is 1 5/8". In addition the macro lens positions the wide angle lens further away from the camera lens exacerbating the vignetting. As others have noted the macro lens is required to mount the wide angle lens to your camera. The wide angle lens has a female thread on it so it can't be threaded to the camera directly; the macro lens has male threads on both ends. But the macro lens thread is only 37mm on one end so don't think you can use a 37mm to 37mm male adapter ring; the female threads on the wide angle lens aren't 37mm. Image quality is only fair but expected in a lens at this price. Both the macro and wide angle functionality work. At default zoom there is softness (defocus) that increases from the center of the lens outward but when I zoom all way in (12x) on my HF100 the chromatic aberrations become obvious; at full zoom I find the distortions unacceptable. My camera sometimes also had some problems autofocusing with this lens. This lens is just OK. It was only $10 so I think the price is right for what it is but don't expect miracles. If you're concerned about image quality, don't waste your time buying a $10 lens. I ended up buying a used Canon WD-H37II wide angle lens for around $25 for my camera instead and although it's quite a bit heavier with larger 2 1/4" diameter the image quality is leaps and bounds better than with the Neewer lens.

Excellent Bargain
I use this on a JVC Everio GZ-HM550BU HighDef camcorder. In video mode, this is much better than just the standard lens. The wider field of view is superb. The standard lens was so tight that held at arms length, my whole head wouldn't fit in frame. With this lens it's much better. There are drawbacks. In photo mode, there is vignetting at the corners of the shot, with a nice, slight, fish-eye distortion. To avoid that you have to slightly zoom... about 1x. The lens interferes with the built in video light, flash, and infrared port on front of the camera. You cannot use this lens with the video light or the built in flash. Sometimes the autofocus will have a fit. Not often. But I wonder if it's because of the partial obscuring of the infrared port. When the autofocus fails, it often focuses on imperfections in the lens. I say imperfections and not dirt or dust on the surface of the lens because I've cleaned it many times and cannot seem to remove the imperfection. Now understand, there are FIVE lens surfaces to clean: the outside of the stock lens on the camera, the inside of the macro lens, the outside of the macro lens, the inside of the wide angle lens, and the outside of the wide angle lens. Yes, this is a two piece solution. They unscrew. Speaking of which, it's a little tricky to remove this sometimes because it's two pieces. For the money, it's worth it. Time lapse daytime shots with this lens are incredible. Just remember the limitations: manual focus and plenty of alternative lighting.

the funny little thing works.
Unable at present to buy a real macro lens but interested in going smaller I thought I would try this for my new pen camera. It works and works well though I have to unscrew the lens to use only the macro part and lower my standards to a more realistic level. With some patience and skill a great shot is possible. The lense also has a wide angle but this is not as interesting to me. It is made of metal and is a good looking little attachment. Well made and at present well milled its is a nice complement to my micro system. The price is right and it make a nice way to explore macro , though by no means real, shots with my new travel system. If it shows that I really want to work outside more than the studio I will feel justified in finding the pro version. FOr now it is making the subject fun again and keeping the fires of creativity burning.

Does the job and can't beat the price
Tested with a Canon HF100 camcorder: This lens adapter screws right in to the camera's 37mm filter threads. The macro mode really isn't necessary, as this camera can already focus on items nearly touching the lens. The wide angle mode manages to cover the entire frame without any black corners or edges, and really helps fit a lot of scene into the frame without much (if any)fisheye/distortion. The lens comes with a snug-fitting (subject end) and threaded (camera end) lens cap for each end of the lens, and a vinyl pouch for storage. Hard to beat for the price.

Great to zoom out for my home studio.
Perfect for what I needed them for, and great price. I bought two. I have two Sony Handicam cameras (HDR-SR11, and HDR-CX12) I'm a musician and I use the cameras in my home studio for webcasting, connected through a HDMI capture device to my computer. Zoomed out, the focal point of these cameras was still too high in my studio space, so these worked perfectly, and although keep them manually focused, the cameras still auto-focus just fine with these on.
