I was reluctant to spend $100, but it turns out to be the best investment I have made this year. I was struggling with tired eyes and blurred/poor vision when doing cross-stitching and beading after short periods of time. I was at the point where my eyes were be sorely strained after 1 hr. and I was losing the joy of crafting. I thought my eyesight was deteriorating and I needed new glasses. This light/magnifier is wonderful. I can now work on my projects for 4-6 hrs a day without any eye strain, in complete comfort, wearing my reading glasses. It's really quite amazing. PROS: 1. Easy to assemble. Arrives very well packaged. 2. The light is a nice bright, white(not yellow) showing the true colors of your work and never, ever gets hot. (even after being on for 6+ hrs) 3. The magnifying area is nice and large, so I can work with my hands, arms and neck in a natural and comfortable position. I dont have to adjust my body position to the magnifier, which is quite wonderful. 4. The magnifier is clear and excellent quality glass. No distortion. The 7X magnification is perfect. I can see a large area of my work in beautiful detail. If I need more magnification, I simply pull the head a tad closer. Easy to clean with a soft cloth. 5. The magnifier head articulates in all directions. Up/Down, Left/Right and spins 360 degrees. I particularly like that once I have it at a comfortable height, if I adjust my position in my chair, I can simply tip the magnifier a smidge to the correct angle and continue working. It always stays put in the exact position I set it to. 6. Easy to adjust the flex-arm and height. Easy to swivel the head is very tiny adjustments. 7. The flex-arm is plenty long enough to position comfortably over my La-Z-Boy recliner. 8. Base is well weighted, so as long as you position the magnifier head directly over the base, this lamp is very stable and will not tip over. CONS: 1. You do have to make sure the magnifier head is aligned horizontally above the base to prevent this from tipping over. 2. Not a real CON, but I do wish the cord was longer. I did have to buy an extension cord 3. You do need to use two hands to grip the lower pole to move this into position by lifting gently and sliding it across the floor/rug. The weighted base is heavy and you have to be careful not to pull the pole out of the base when moving it.

To the sellers of the Brightech LightView Pro LED Magnifying Floor Lamp: I purchased the lamp for my 97 year old mother who is in assisted living. Her eyesight is failing, and she has had problems reading. I have tried a number of hand-held magnifying glasses, but with the arthritis in her fingers and the difficulty of holding a book and a magnifying glass at the same time, she despaired of being able to read again. She is one of the most alert of the clients at her assisted living facility so this has been depressing for her. She has also had to all but give up on reading email on the computer because of her vision problems. So the other day I presented her with the Brightech lamp. We set it up beside her couch near her computer. The lamp can be swung over the couch for reading or moved to the front of her computer screen. Once we got it set up, we gave it a try. I only wish you could have been there to see the expression on her face and hear the joy in her voice. We were both amazed. The lamp performed exactly as promised, and my Mom is able to read books again as well as read her computer screen. She has expressed her delight to me every day since the purchase. Finally, she has been given back the ability to read and continue exploring the world through books and the internet. Oh my, you have no idea how happy she this has made her. It's also a burden off me because I felt so sorry for her. I was working with a lawyer yesterday who recently hired a vision impaired associate. I told him about the lamp, and he is going to purchase one for his associate to further accommodate her vision challenges. So you see, the product sells itself. The lamp is well-constructed, sturdy, and easy to set-up. You can tell it's made from quality materials, and the light is magnificently bright. It's just a wonderful lamp. Works well allowing gift recipient opportunity to read and do needlework more easily. Light is bright and can be positioned conveniently. Only downside is that it is heavy. Probably do to prevent tipping but for an older person, not easy to move from one spot to another.

Everything I needed to help with needlepoint and other detailed crafting. Excellent choice as it is sturdy, easy to put together and perfect light and magnifying capabilities. Great value for money - black goes with everything too!

This light is exactly what I needed! I paint glasses, vases, dishes, mugs, etc. for a living and proper lighting is essential. Some lights cause eye fatigue, but this light casts a very bright beam that does not bounce off the glass. The goose neck allows me to easily and quickly adjust where the beam is too. Working with paints means I need to be able to work quickly, so being able to adjust the light rapidly and accurately is extremely helpful. The base is heavy, so the lamp stays put. You do need to make sure the light is bent over the base so the lamp does not fall over, but once I got the lamp situated over my work table (which took all of about 10 seconds) I have had zippy doo dah issues with the lamp tipping. I have never worked with a magnifying glass before. I will admit it took some getting used to, but now I can't live without it. It has allowed me to get more precise with my painting. The magnifying glass on this light is very clear and large too. I have looked at other magnifying lights before purchasing this one, but the magnifying glass was either small or distorted the image so much that it was worthless. Like everything else about this light, it is perfect for my needs. I have gone through many work lights over the years, and I was skeptical about buying a light at this price point as many of the lights I have rejected or broke quite quickly were a LOT more expensive. I took a chance on this one because I had a large order to get out and I could get this light quickly. Although I have only had it a few weeks, so far, it has been EXACTLY what I need. Speaking of getting it quickly, I am a Prime member so I could get this within 2 business days for free or pay a bit more and get it the next day. I opted to go with the free shipping. Much to my surprise, the light was delivered the next day anyways!!!! As for the assembly, it was 2 screws, a bit of tightening, and plugging it in. I had the light together in about 2 minutes - easy peasy lemon squeezy. Honestly, this entire purchase was FLAWLESS. If you are looking for a task light, I highly recommend this one.

I bought this mostly for doing beaded needle work and jigsaw puzzles. I'm avid about reading reviews before I buy something and got a kick out of the lady who said her husband had taken over her lamp for his projects. I thought it was really funny until I caught my partner checking out my lamp -- he was impressed with the magnification and the light. The light is very bright but very easy on my eyes. The magnification is great for working with small beaded projects. You would need to be in the right kind of seat/chair for the magnifying part to work correctly. Most of our furniture and the arrangement makes that awkward, but I will figure it out when I get out my needle point project. I'm am so thrilled to find this lamp. Between vision changes and aging, it's wonderful that I can now do the crafts I love so much. As many reviewers said, the base of this lamp is heavy which makes it very sturdy for swiveling the lamp around. While that part is good, it makes it a bit awkward to move from room to room. Because I want to use it between the living room any my craft room/office, I'm thinking about getting a small wheeled stand to make it easier to move it about. It was very easy to put together. The one thing the instructions did not point out the twist lock between the upper metal arm and the white part of the base. Maybe I'm slow, but it took a while to figure out that turning that white piece of plastic provided the tension needed to keep the upper part of the light from swiveling willynilly while I was trying to do some bead work. Even if you don't need magnification for projects, I would recommend the lamp for the incredible light. Thanks to the many reviewers who helped me choose this product. Lastly, the Brightech company contacted me by email soon after I brought the lamp to insure that I was happy with the product. It's really nice to buy from a company who cares about the quality of their product and the satisfaction of the consumers who buy it.

Very sturdy and easy to assemble. Heavy but it is very solid.

I have a back problem and the base of these things is so heavy it had crushed the styrofoam surroundings inside of the box and when I opened this light, all those little white beads went all over my dining room floor. I have a back problem and literally was unable to pick up the base to put it together. I had to wait for someone to help me. The assembly was very easy, but took two of us because the base was like lead. Now that being said, the light is 10X brighter than my old one that gave up the ghost. The magnifier was much greater than on my old one. It is way easier to sew by and thread a needle with. It sits very steady on my hardwood floor in the den and has never tipped over. Probably not so great on a thick pile rug, but that's not my problem. If I were going to improve this lamp at all, I'd have a 3 click switch. OFF, ON a little bit for just a little bit of light to maybe read by late at night, and full on for sewing and working on several documents at once on a lap board. That's the only improvement I could think of because it is almost perfect. Very heavy and sturdy. Much more than I even imagined. Won't fall over while you are using it like my old one. Oh and the light swivels nicely. You can aim your light at the wall. My old one wouldn't do that. If you are looking for some very bright light to aid you in sewing on your machine, this would be excellent since it can be directed where desired and is quite bright.

Purchased for my mother who has AMD. She is thrilled with it. She just needs to remember to use it. Only fault was it arrived with USA plug do we had to purchase an adapter

Took a while to get through customs. All arrived . Well packed. Just remember you need a UK plug converter. The plug it comes with is US two pin and is large . I waited till the item came before ordering one.

The lamp arrived late, having been shipped from the USA. It is designed to work on 120v power, not 240v, and has a US plug on it. This is not stated on the product listing or details. A 120v adapter costs about £10-15, which the seller reluctantly agreed to pay for. Once plugged in, it ran for about two hours before failing. When I asked for a return to the seller I was given a return label to send it back to the USA, which is hardly environmentally friendly as they will almost certainly scrap it on arrival. In the plus side, it’s well made, sturdy and attractive, although my wife found the magnification a little strong for the sewing she wanted to use it for. Additional information:- Having returned the lamp as stated above, I then waited three weeks, and still hadn’t got a credit note for it. I eventually got a credit by phoning Amazon and making a claim on their A-Z guarantee system. I note the lamp is still for sale in the UK, and STILL has no reference that it is 120v. This is NOT a supplier I will be dealing with again!
