I expected a bright story with equally bright and cheery full page illustrations. Purchased for a four year old. Will not be gifting it to her. More suitable for an older child but I think the context of the story would be boring to that older child that was in to comic books. Just an odd choice of story technique for what could have been and adorable first reader.
