UPDATE July 5, 2016: I've changed my review to 5 stars. The previous one I had just happened to be defective. I have had zero problems with the new fountain, the pump works great and the top latches in place well, and the customer service from both Amazon and the Seller was excellent. The cats love this fountain, it's easy to clean, and I would buy it again. UPDATE APRIL 21, 2016: Well, I tried to call the manufacturer, and their phone was disconnected. I sent them an email, and didn't hear back, so I panicked and called Amazon. Amazon couldn't get ahold of them either, and so agreed to an exchange. Then the manufacturer DID respond to my email. I shouldn't have panicked; their response just took a couple of days to come through. They were very responsive when I sent them a video of what the pump was doing, and offered to send me a new pump. However, I was already expecting the new fountain from Amazon. In short, the new fountain arrived, and is working like a charm. The clips on both sides of the cover snap in place with no problem. I have the email from the manufacturer in case anything should go wrong, and both Amazon and the manufacturer were exceptionally nice and responsive about the whole situation. I still give this a four-star rating, and I still love this water fountain. UPDATE APRIL 11, 2016: The pump has stopped functioning, and two months have passed so it's not eligible for return. I am going to see about a warranty, then reconsider my rating if needed. After trying the Drinkwell Mini, which leaked no matter what I did, I decided to try this fountain. I couldn't be happier, and my cats use this more than they did the other. I took off 1 star because of a minor defect. The top is held in place by snaps on either side of the fountain. From day one, the snaps on one side have never held. (You can see what the working snaps and the non-working snaps look like in the pictures.) However, I didn't return it because of the hassle and because it didn't affect functionality. The top remains in place. My three cats drink from different spots on this fountain, and they drink a lot more. They really like it. It is easier to clean than any other fountain I have owned. Now for a few tips: 1. Pump replacement: I saw at least one review that stated you couldn't buy replacement pumps. The pump is actually an aquarium pump. I don't have it in front of me, but you can do a search on the model number, which is located on the pump itself, and find replacements. 2. Pump not working: I had a scare after I took the pump apart and cleaned the impeller. Suddenly, it wasn't pumping water anymore. I packed it up to return to the sender when I suddenly came across a tiny rubber piece on the counter where I had been working. I had seen this piece when I had first taken the pump apart; it was on the tip of the impeller, and I knew I had put it back. That's when I realized that the impeller has two rubber tips, one on each end. When I put that rubber tip onto the bottom of the impeller, the pump worked perfectly. WARNING: Be very careful when you take apart the pump. Those rubber tips on the impeller are very tiny, would be easy to lose, and are critical for the pump to function. 3. The pump is very hard to pull apart. Don't give up, and maybe find something to wedge in the seam. It will come apart for cleaning. I think it will loosen up over time and get easier to pull apart. I have only cleaned it once. I recommend cleaning the pump regularly. In my experience, pumps get gunked up with mold, hair, and other stuff, so cleaning them is essential for a smooth-running fountain.

I had previously owned the Catit flower fountain for a year and every few weeks my young cat would knock the fountain over repeatedly. It was extremely frustrating. I started observing his behaviors and I thought to myself “maybe he’s impatient at the slow water flow and trickling”. I tried water bowls but those didn’t work either and my cats would drink even less water. I bought this fountain hoping that my cats would be able to drink more water and not tip their fountains again. This fountain has been a lifesaver! I completely recommend it 100%. I’ve owned it for a few months now and no tipping! However since I own 4 cats I’ve had to replace the filter more often than if I only had 1 cat. I usually replace the filter every two weeks. They even have the dog version as well and the energy bill hasn’t been as crazy high as it used to with the catit fountain. It’s relatively easy to clean and I love the design. The cats can drink water from the bubbling top or the bowl base. All in all, it’s awesome. And a really good fountain for fairly cheap.

Great water fountain! I was recommended to buy this product from my Vet Tech sister to encourage my cat to drink more water. My cat would rarely drink water and he started to not want dry food. After buying this product, he has started eating more dry food (I rarely need to give him wet food anymore) and he drinks way more water now! He is finally gaining weight and he seems much happier now. The fountain is the perfect size: it's small enough to fit on his food mat. It is very quiet. I love that it comes with the dental tablets to help with dental health. I would definitely recommend this product!

I purchased the bigger one for the dogs and loved it so I ordered the smaller cat one. The dog one is great, easy to clean and I just love it but this cat one was also great and easy to clean, but, the motor became noisy so I returned it and exchanged it for another one and it did the same thing. Loved the bowl and the ease of cleaning but not the noise.

I have purchased many water fountains for my cats at much higher prices that this and they have all failed. My last one of these lasted almost 4 years. This is unheard of as the pumps fail. I will continue buying this brand for ever!! Thanks for making it and providing excellent pumps that keep on pumping!!! Thank you!! Sandra

I purchased this water fountain in April. It was working great and my cat from scared first and then love it. It works for two month but now all the sudden I saw leaking water on the floor for few weeks now. I have to wipe the floor everyday. I have no idea where the water leak from. It's def not from the top and I only have one cat. He doesn't play with water. Also when water gets mid level to lower. It used to work but just loud which is fine. Now lower to mid level, the pump seems having hard time to pump water. I have to tilt the water to get it pump out again but I can tell from the the sound, the pump is struggling pump up the water. now I am worry if I am going away for few days, I can't even trust this water pump for my cat.

I have two of these in my house. I admit I thought I had a problem with the pump at first. I recommend putting some water in before putting the pump in. It helps with the noise or thinking it's broken. I have 4 adult cats, 3 are senior, they love it and easy on them to recognize water running. As one friend explained cats have a hard time seeing water so fountains make it easier to discern that there is water and running water let's them know it's safe to drink. The pet shop around the corner has the dog bowl fountain and he said the pump he has is 3 years old and hasn't died yet. As long as you properly clean it. It will last. I believe it because I have been in and out of that store intermittently for years.

Er sieht nett aus und ist sicherlich gut verarbeitet aber..... einfach zu laut. Egal wie voll er ist, wie lange er lief oder ob etwas darunter stand..... er brummt und brummt, die Pumpe ist zu laut. Die Katzen sind verschreckt und uns stört es. Ich schaue mich nach einem höherwertigen Produkt aus Keramik mit guter Pumpe um.

Wir haben zwei Stück davon beide laufen jetzt seit einen Jahr!zu reinigen und befüllen ist es sehr einfach. Für diejenigen die sagen Motor kaputt Reinigt mal eure Filter dann läuft das Teil wieder normal.... wir können ihn nur weiter empfehlen

Been using this for a few weeks now and it functions great. The cats are definitely drinking more water now too compare to using just a bowl.
