This book is a fun retelling of the traditional fairy tale. These three pigs, two brothers and a sister have had "enough!" of the wolf and all his huffing and puffing. They decide to head over to the ninja school to each train in one of three different disciplines of martial arts. However, pig one and pig two believe that after just a little practice they are ready to take on the Big Bad Wolf. They discover that they are not nearly as ready as they originally believed. Pig 3, the sister, is a model of dedicated practice and when her two brothers come running to her house for protection from the wolf, she is ready for him to bring it on! The lesson being, that if one wants to excel at a skill, there is a lot of work and practice involved. This book could be used to support more than one theme. There's bullying and having to practice to become skilled even if one doesn't feel like it. The artwork consists primarily of brown tones and the characters are drawn with a lot of dramatic expression. There's some clever rhymes but not all of them flow smoothly, a minor criticism. There's a glossary in the back that gives pronunciations and definitions of the martial arts related words that are in the story (dojo, sensei). It would probably be a good idea to read those first before reading the story. This way a child knows what the words mean while they read the story or it is being read to them. Bottom line, it's a worthy purchase.

I have 3 books by this author and just love them. My boys do too. They are funny, exciting, words rhyme, and all have a great ending. Bright to school for show and tell day when parents get to read to the 1st grade class, always a hit with the class kids and teacher. Took these books for both my boys classroom read. Great books, you won’t be disappointed.

My kids love this book! My 3 year old daughter was scared sick of the "wolf". After seeing the 3 little pigs by disney and reading the little red riding hood, she was terrified of a fictitious wolf that would come to either blow our house down or tie us up. I tried showing her pictures of cute cuddly wolf cubs, we put up signs by the doors that said "wolf not allowed" and even 'called' the zoo to make sure he was still locked up there...but alas my efforts did not calm her fear. This book did the trick! I love that this book illustrates how to get a bully to leave you alone and you don't really have to physically fight to intimidate the bully -- you can be confident and demonstrate that you shouldn't be "messed with". I also like that it's the sister that is able to fend off the wolf once and for all! You go pig girl number 3! We act it out at night, our 2 year old likes to yell, "NAUGHTY WOLF!" each time he sees him. Yea, naughty wolf -- sister's going to give you a pork chop!

This was a fun read. I loved how it was the sister who saved the day.

As a grandmother and a nursery school teacher, i find ''The Three Ninja Pigs'' to be the perfect book for teaching important values while telling a delightful story in delicious rhyme! Interwoven themes of girl power, working hard to get what you want, and family unity make for a delightful read. A must for a young reader's library.

I love this book! It is such a fresh twist on the classic story. The rhymes are clever and fun-great for little ones, but sophisticated enough to keep the adults entertained as well. My son commented on how the pictures were awesome and exciting, full of so much action. In particular, I am thrilled that the pig who saves the day is the female pig. I'm always looking for strong, smart girls in stories as a role model for my daughter and this pig fits the bill. All in all, this is a great book and will be enjoyed over and over by my family.

Funny book with a great message ... work hard , don't give up and your hard work will pay off !! Easy to read , the rhymes roll off your tongue!

OMG this is amazing! I want to buy 10 more copies for everyone we know. As someone practising martial arts, I got a kick out of it, it is the kids' favourite and now they want to do bjj. Total win.

My youngest loves this book and so do I. It is such a refreshing change to have a story where the little sister saves the day. I can see my daughter swell with pride as we reach the conclusion of this book. A great empowering book for little girls. By the way my sone loves it too :-)

i bought this as a present for my grand child and her dad! they absolutely love it! I am told it is her most favourite bedtime story. great the way different martial arts styles are together in one book and a splendid message about never giving up. many thanks for a great product

We love this book, our 5 and 6 year olds (girl and boy) enjoy the story and as the parents we appreciate the moral of the story and the perfectly written wording which allows for easy out loud rythmic reading. The illustrations are modern and fun - an all round excellent book. I've since ordered all the others from the same without illustrator duo.
