Here is a series of easy readers called the I Can Read series. This is level 2. These books are for the little guys or reluctant readers. Vocabulary in controlled, there may be rhymes, The text is large to accommodate growing eyes. This particular book is also an early chapter book. Sometimes children are in a rush to get to chapter books. This helps them find their way. They can notice the chapter headings, the Table of Contents. The story is more developed than the Level 1 books. The pictures add clarification to the words. Sentences are longer than the easier books, but there is also repetition to help with new words. This story is quite funny and children enjoy it.

So cute! My son loved it.

My grandson was struggling while learning to read, until we enrolled him in a summer reading program. He is doing much better and seems to enjoy, and want, to read (that wasn't always the case). The "Second Grade" books have caught his interest, and he looks forward to reading them. He has read each one (3) of them at least twice. Highly recommended for those lil ones learning to read.
