Great book for most ages of ESL
This book has all kinds of activities to improve the vocabulary, phoneme awareness, reading, and speaking for ESL students. Chapters include "Person/Place/Thing", "Matched Pairs," "Sound and Spell," "Scrambles," "Categories," "Scenarios," and "Pyramids." Each chapter describes several games as well as variations, and each game that is included also has 3 levels. I also like how the games go beyond vocabulary practice. In the "Scrambles" chapter, students are asked to organize words into sentences, sentences into stories, and paragraphs into stories. Clark also includes games that spark conversation. In the "Scenario" chapter, character descriptions are given for students to act out under certain themes, such as murder mystery or airplane trip.I teach ESL at the upper elementary level and adults. Because index cards you create yourself do not have too many images on them, this book would probably be most useful to students who have learned to read, even just a little, in at least one language (their native language or English). The most useful aspect of this book is that he also suggests ideas for other topics, demonstrating the flexibility of all the games included. This book is a great resource and an inspiration for future activities in my classroom.

i got this for my wife to use in her classes and she teaches all ages. Her classes get really involved and she has the highest retention rate at the end of the class. (That is a personal observation)

Not what I expected
I was hoping that this actually offered games that could be played with Index Cards for ESL, but this seems to be just something that I would make copies of, which is not what I wanted. I would have preferred index card games in form, with (yours truly) creating the content.

ESL (Quick Games)
Great price and semi useful. Many other teachers could use it more than I did though. I did not have as much opportunity the way the school I worked at curriculum's was established. you won't have buyer's remorse regardless because it was very inexpensive, so I would get it if you teach children.
