Terrawest Core 240 Avalanche Probe

This probe goes together well and seems sturdy. I have not used it in deep snow.

Works great! Pull the cord hard to lock it in place

Tip and first section somehow became untied from the rest of the probe, luckily, this happened in a practice drill. Could have been a disaster in a real situation. Update: Snowsafe was fantastic in dealing with problem and provided a new probe replacement. The new Terrawest probe is working great, hope I never have a real need to use this! upgrading to four stars for the customer service and the new probe is working.

I’m glad I tested this thing out, because it broke on my first training session. Please skip this product and buy something higher quality.

Its price and quality

Compact. Quick set up. Easy to read measurements.

It is a solid probe. The numbers for depth are printed on the tubes and immediately started flaking off. Not a huge deal, but it makes a mess.

Orange handle and first section detached, thankfully while practicing.

Bought these to complete an avalanche pack to use while snowboarding in Japan. Worked great everytime I tested it. Luckily never had to use it in an actual avalanche.

As described. Just a half meter to short for the standard recommend length in BC. Still better then having nothing I suppose. Will need to purchase a 3m probe before taking my Avalanche training. I Should have read the discrimination a little more carefully. Forgetting all that, the prob itself is well made, solid for the price.

La sonda si assembla facilmente ed il cavo interno sembra robusto e duraturo. Provata durante l’annuale esercitazione anti-valanga, ha funzionato alla perfezione. L’ho usata anche per valutare i bordi di un piccolo crepaccio. Penetra facilmente nel manto nevoso e nella neve compatta; vibra quando colpisce il ghiaccio. In generale, un buon prodotto anche se non adatto all’uso professionale.
