It does adhere to this material. Just make sure to clean the area with an alcohol swab to ensure the glue from the pop socket sticks well.

So you have to use the glass in order to use the case?

The glass fits in the rectangular opening of the face plate. As such it tends lift at the corners and sides so you get air gaps. If you want glass cover then you'd be better off getting one that covers the entire screen them put face plate over it.
