Windows 8.1 Tips, Tricks & Shortcuts in easy steps

I recently purchased a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and I guess I needed some additional help with learning 8.1. This is a very helpful book and straight to the point. The book is easy to read and as the title states it has the "Tips, Tricks, & Shortcuts. The Contents pages and Index pages direct the reader right to what they need to know. Good price also.

The book seems to be fine if you know windows 8. Although it claims to be windows 8.1, hardly any trick, short cut, etc., coordinates with a windows 8.1 computer. In that sense, the book is ridiculous; "no prompt matches any thing in my windows 8.1 computer(a brand new one.), unless of course you want to buy and install the myriad gadgets it requires to do so.Long story short, I dumped the book and find out by myself what needed to be done through trial & error.

This is a very good book easy to understand good size print a lot of information very good price.I purchased other books from computer stores not one beat this one. I give this big 5 star especially if you are over 50.

HELPS IF YOU'RE NEW TO WINDOWS 8 OR 8.1 .

Handy volume to have around. Already saving boot time.

'I was not too impressed by the "tips"

You were supposed to send a Credit card with $65 on it since I bought the book as a birthday gift. Since you didn't send it although I indicated "gift" I wrote her a check for $65. On the good side she likes the book but I feel I was cheated.

I bought this book after borrowing from the library as it had so many useful tips and tricks - as advertised. Everything has worked wonderfully and I'm really pleased BUT DO NOT take the advice to download VirtualBox on p.122 as this download caused Iminent Search malware to download instead and took several days to clear from my laptop - ironic, as VirtualBox was supposed to protect the laptop from exactly this problem and provide 'risk-free internet browsing'. Not the author's fault, I'm sure, as the download problem must have developed after publication.

Came in good time, Nicely set out. Bought for my Mam but possible still bit technical for Mam but ok for me to use with her to show her how to do basic stuff.

Great little reference book. Comes in handy when I'm having issue with Windows 8.1. It's simple to use and covers all the subjects I have had issues with.

Having been using Windows XP for the last 15 years, this has been a very useful aid to help the change to my new computer with Windows 8.1.

I bought this book as I have got a new laptop and thought it would be useful am pleased with it
