Dig up rock and dig up clay! Dig up dirt and dig all day! Mr. Rally and his faithful dog, Lightning, have a busy day ahead of them, but they don't mind. What could be more fun than using a big yellow backhoe to build a pool at the school and a drain for the rain? Follow Mr. Rally through his day as he travels around town, counting from one to five in an irresistible refrain. Marc Rosenthal's colorful, nostalgic illustrations add a bold dimension to the lively text by the husband-and-wife team of Andrea Zimmerman and David Clemesha. Dig on, Mr. Rally! Dig on, Lightning! Review: This author team is a NO FAIL choice. - Dig!, Trashy Town and the others like Digger Man etc. are NO FAIL choices. They have a question answer thing that keeps the child involved with/in the story and a song like verse that most kids love...it strikes a key that seems to be really important around this age. My son, my youngest kiddo, is a little over 2.5 and boy Oh boy does he love reading this and Trashy Town. Dig, involves counting to 5, making a plan and sticking with it with a positive attitude and lightning the dog always finds a treasure wherever they go. Lol Awesome book. Inspiring to a little toddler man or lady and fun to read so I'm not going TOO crazy when we read these a few times a day. Lol Review: A Big Hit for Little Diggers - “My son is obsessed with anything that digs, scoops, or hauls — and this book is his new favorite. The rhythm of the text is perfect for reading out loud, and the illustrations are full of energy. He points at every page and shouts ‘DIG!’ like he’s part of the crew. It’s simple, joyful, and built tough — just like the machines inside. Definitely one of those books that gets read on repeat and never gets old.” — Praying to the car gods

One of the most loved books
This book offers so much! It is a cute story about Mr. Rally and his dog Lightning who "have five digging job to do today". It goes on to describe the jobs Mr. Rally does with his backhoe, meanwhile his doggy has five "projects" of his own (digging out bones). The pictures are humorous and lively. Kids can learn to count to 5, memorize the rhymes, train their attention and memory ("are there more digging jobs to do?" Yes!). Highly recommended.

For those children who love construction vehicles
This book was a gift and it also was a favorite of my grandchildren. My two grandchildren loved construction vehicles so asked for this book to be read over and over. I liked that there were rhyming verses that helped my grandchildren hear the rhymes and its rhythm.

3 child. All Loved This Book
Who doesn’t love Mr. Rally? All three of my littles loved this book when they were first leading to speak. There’s a nice call and response rhythm. Beautifully illustrated, sufficiently detailed to keep interest as a preschooler too. It’s a classic in our house.

Cute Story- A long time favorite
I first got this for my boys when they were probably 2 and 3, they’re 7 and 8 now and our new dog chewed the board book- we bought a new copy. The boys were sad that the dog chewed it because it was a favorite of theirs, we know the story by heart!
