No wrong connector (that's a lightning connector). The USB-C end of it however can be plugged directly into the newer MacBook Pros with the USB-C connections. Fast transfer of files to you computer or fast "reading" of video files directly off the microSD card. That's how I'm presently using my reader/microSD card with my MacBookPro.
