Plantronics DA80 USB Audio Processor

At the time of ordering a Plantronics headset, it was not exactly clear that the “wired” headset didn’t come with all the “wires”. As it turns out, to actually connect to a USB port, you will need this fairly expensive Plantronics component. When you have everything together, they work very well and are comfortable.

I work remotely and my old audio processor was having issues with the cord bending/fraying and causing static on the line. Instead of driving to the office and being given a used one from a previous employee, which is what has been done in the past, I decided to purchase a new one myself. This was so easy to swap, and I have had no issues with sound quality.

I decided that I should put up a review for this item because it only had one review. That review was also only one star and stated it what was not the right product. I was very sceptical and was about to purchase the older model for $53. I just couldn't get the new design out of my head. I loved the pictures of the DA80. So, I decided to take a chance fully comfortable that if the same thing happened to me, Amazon would make it right. 11:50pm, Saturday June 25th 2016, I ordered the DA80 with prime. Package arrived June 27th as promised, brand new and securely pachaged. It looks even better than the pictures. It may not be a big deal to others, but for me, I love my technology to look good. I needed a usb adapter instead of the 3.5 I was using and now I have no problem using my favorite double ear headset on everything I need. For work, skype, phone, pc, linux, mac VOIP phones etc. I n my opinion this headset is the best one I have ever used. So please know, the one star review was just a one-time mistake ALL companies make.

Originally owned the DA70 processor but desperately needed to have a mute button physically, instead of the computer's Softphone feature. I thought getting another brand headset with a mute button would do, but the size wasn't right at all, sound quality wasn't as good as Plantronics' and the location of the button wasn't intuitive either. The DA80 works wonders. The size of the answer+mute buttons is perfect and the lenght it comes down to is right. The lights are large enough to monitor and the sound clarity is superior because I can use it with my Plantronics headsets. Cons: the quality of the cable. It doesn't feel as sturdy as the headsets' and twists easily. I have to be extra careful with it. Another minor issue is that when I'm not on the phone for long periods of time and the line is open, I sometimes get a high pitched noise for a couple of seconds. However turning down the volume gets rid of that and it's not loud enough to take another star off. Overall, it was a great upgrade and I give it 4 starts due to the quality expectation I had for the cable's material.

I received a compliment on sound quality using this product and my Plantronics H81N headset during my meeting. However, I almost returned the processor thinking it malfunctioned because I did not have the updated drivers and as a result my headset was stuck on mute. If you buy this product, make sure you download the software from Poly.com (formerly Plantronics). I used the da80 software with 700 series selected for an ASUS laptop running Windows 10.

Bought about 2 months ago. Worked fine. Now my customers tell me if sounds like I’m working from a truck stop with all the background noise. Would like to return but the seller website is saying I can’t return it.

I like how the cord has a thicker wire. This helps longevity. The USB adapter also works with another call center headphone I replaced with. The control buttons are in the perfect spot to easily use.

I use this for my headset when working from home. It did not work properly on our new phones in the office and caused calls to come up on speaker instead of headset! Now that we are on VDI virtual machines for WFH, it works great!

Excellente diseño, el cable es muy delgado espero que sea heavyduty

Tengo el headset Plantronics Encore 720 y usaba el procesador DA70, el cual si no estaba mal ya lo tenía todo parchado con cinta de aislar porque el plástico se rompió. No era muy resistente. Decidí comprar este por esa razón y por el botón de mute que era muy necesario para mi. Estaba preocupada que no fuera original o compatible. Pero afortunadamente si es original y compatible . La calidad del sonido sí mejoró con este procesador comparado con el DA70, se escucha mas fuerte y nítido el sonido. Los botones de volumen hacen lo que tienen que hacer bien. Mi única queja es con el botón de MUTE: dos cosas pequeñas, 1) cuando lo aprietas tiene un tiempo de reacción de 3 a 5 segundos (es decir que el mute no entra enseguida), y 2) el botón de mute no se desactiva apretando el mismo botón de mute, se queda como atorado, pero se quita con el botón de llamada que está arriba y que prende en con una luz verde (ósea si funciona, solo hay que acostumbrarse). Estoy contenta en general con el producto, bajé los drivers de poly.com, aunque me gustó más usarlo sin ellos. Buen producto, precio elevado pero vale la pena por la calidad de las llamadas. Ojalá este sí sea más resistente. ACTUALIZACIÓN Dejó de funcionar al mes, ya no se transmite el sonido y el botón de mute, que fue la razón por la que la compré, dejó de funcionar también. Literalmente sólo funcionó un mes! y dice que ya no es elegible para devolución por dos días! Que porquería...
