BOSS Audio Systems MC420B 3 Inch Motorcycle Speakers, Class D Amp Package

Quality product! Sound is awesome for a $60 system, at 40mph and lower its great. It's plenty loud enough, but as you approach 60 mph and up truth is no stereo is going to sound like a home audiophile system. Bottom line is 'buy it'! Customer service is first rate, they are great! Also, I read some complaints about bass. When I first connected the speakers they too sounded a bit flat. I clicked onto my Poweramp music player and set it to large concert hall and max bass and presto... truly impressive rich sound! My install - I mounted the speakers on the handlebars just inside the windshield. Then, ran all the wires and the amp into a small, front fork mounted, 'tool bag' type pouch. The main issue is the red hot wire. I must have watched a dozen youtube videos on this subject. I usually ride with my high beam on. I know its obnoxious, but down here in Florida anything you can do to stay visible is a life saver. I unscrewed the chrome cover that holds the daymaker headlight in place. Sadly, Harley does not provide an auxiliary wire in the headlight wiring harness of Sportster's. At least not in mine. There are three wires entering the headlight assembly from a hole in the back. Black wire is ground, white wire is High Beam, yellow wire is Low Beam. I used a plastic splice connector from Home Depot to connect the red Boss power wire to the white High Beam wire. (AMP Splice Tap Connectors 10 pack). The hole in the back of the headlight assembly where Harley runs the headlight wires - Harley runs the wire harness though the hole with a rubber bushing that protects the wires and keeps water from getting in. I tried to slice the rubber bushing so that I could add the Boss red hotwire but it was cramped quarters and I couldnt get in there without taking the chance of cutting the headlight wires also. You may be able to do it, I couldn't. I ran the red power wire through the hole and at the point where it touched the metal headlight housing I covered the wire with an extra couple of layers of electrical tape to protect it from the housing wearing through the insulation and shorting the amp. Then, pushed the rubber bushing back into the hole. It wasn't a perfect fit, there was a slight gap because of the red wire I installed. It also wasn't a terrible fit - and then I put the headlight and headlight retainer back into place. After continual testing at every stage, and when I was sure all worked as it should, I used a dab of black silicone caulk and filled in the gap between the rubber bushing and the outside of the headlight assembly. This also helped hold the red power wire in place and reduce any chance of shorting against the headlight casing. I ran the ground wire outside the headlight housing for a few inches to a windshield mounting bolt and tightened it down. (I didn't want the ground wire taking up space going through the headlight hole, so I split the red power wire and the ground wire before the power wire entered the headlight housing hole. You may find it works just fine running both wires through, especially after using caulk to close up the hole where the wires enter.) Finally, I used zip ties to connect the volume button to the left side windshield mount, very close to where my hand naturally fits onto the handlebar grip. I believe you want the volume control where your left hand can safely get to it without too much reaching. Final result is my Boss audio system works only when the high beam is on. And when the bike is turned off there is no chance of the amp staying on and draining the battery. Also, my install required no drilling, no running wires under gas tanks and seats, and no toggle switch. I love having music now!!! Safe riding!

I don’t write reviews with this being my first ever. I have been on the fence with purchasing these speakers for 5-6 months. I pulled the trigger and figured I could always return if not satisfied. If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. 1st. The installation did take some time. I put these on my Harley Davidson Fatboy Motorcycle. Its was not as easy on a motorcycle as described. The module although small just took lots of time with getting it to fit under my seat. Very tight fit. 2nd: Getting the speaker on the bars should be done with someone who can help. This to was quite a hassle when doing it alone. Be aware that the wiring harness is on the short end. Longer wiring harness could make this a lot easier and or give you more options for alternative placement other then under the seat. Maybe in the saddle bags if harness was longer. 3 rd: Not much bass. All in all I have to give these speakers a 5 star review. Video is with volume only at 70%. I do have them on my bars and I do have a batwing which I’m sure helps with wind drowning. My speed got to about 60mph and they sound great. For the price, you cant go wrong!! 5 ⭐️

I wasn't expecting a lot from these but they sound pretty good and they are loud. I stream Spotify radio through Bluetooth and the quality is pretty good. You have to check the settings on streaming apps to get the best sound. I haven't tried the mini audio connection but I should do that. A lot of people expect top notch sound with a Bluetooth connection but as any audiophile knows, you lose a LOT of quality via Bluetooth. You are always better off using a wired connection for higher volume and better quality without pops, clicks, and hisses from radio interference. Like most people have commented, they bass is not very deep but these things will suck the life right out of your battery as is. If you added a subwoofer or deeper bass you would probably suffer performance issues on your motorcycle. I HIGHLY recommend getting a trickle battery charger for your bike and leave it on the bike while its in the garage after using this system. Your bike cannot fully recharge your battery if you use this going down the highway for more than 30 minutes and you will find it takes longer to start your bike. I gave it a try after I installed it in my garage while the motor was not running and listed to some tunes while I tightened everything down and it completely drained my battery dead. I had to jump start it with my truck which is not really a good idea but I wanted to ride. My only real complaint is they don't provided a power switch. I bought a toggle switch at an auto parts store and installed it next to my seat. You DO NOT want to leave this connected to your battery even if you are not playing music or you will have no battery power left at all to start it. Don't follow the instructions to hack into your igntiton either. That is not a good idea with a motorcycle or any vehicle that doesn't have a hood on it to protect it from the elements. Just a little bit of water on any exposed wires could ruin your day in a split second.

These things sound great and are super loud! Better than any Bluetooth speakers! I have a 150cc scooter and I was unable to find a way to mount the 4 speaker version, although that would have just been overkill, I have to turn it down sometimes for sure. PLUS because it's so loud you can think of it more of a safety feature than just a speaker, if ya need help justifying the purchase!

This system provides mediocre high/midrange sound for a "low budget" system. The amp certainly provides loud volume, the biggest downfall of this system is all the wiring is far too short unless you are mounting the amplifier on the handlebars or within a couple feet of it. In order to mount the amplifier behind the side cover of my VTX1800R/3 I had to cut and splice an additional three feet of 16ga speaker wire to each speaker (the amp has proprietary speaker plugs) and three feet of six-conductor 22ga wire into the hard-wired remote volume control wire so I could mount them to the handlebars. The amp features a 3.5mm auxiliary input cable hard-wired to the unit with the same "way too short" length, making it unusable if you mount your phone/iPod/audio device on the handlebars unless you use an extension cable. Why Boss Audio couldn't just put a 3.5mm female input jack on the unit so the user can plug their own correct length of 3.5mm male to 3.5mm cable into it is a mystery to me. Another negative is the unit does not feature a remote power wire, so if you wire the power direct to the battery it will always be on, draining your battery. To avoid this I had to add a 12v/30a relay with which I could run a remote power wire to the fuse box, allowing the unit to power on when the ignition is turned on. Once I spent a few hours splicing wires, running the speaker and remote volume wires, installing and mounting a relay and mounting the unit inside the tool box behind the left side cover (I drilled a series of 3/8' holes in the box to provide ventilation and cooling as the amp does get quite warm), I was able to power it up and take a test ride. As stated above the amp provides loud audio and could be heard at 70mph behind a 22" windscreen. While the audio quality with music is mediocre at best, the system sounded great when streaming news or other talk radio via the SiriusXM app on my iPhone. A big plus is that the bluetooth connection is great. Once initially paired it reconnects immediately upon powering up the system. The chrome speaker housings are nice looking as long as you don't let them touch anything... be very careful not to let them rub against anything when installing as the chromed plastic will scratch/mar VERY easily. If you're 1) looking for a low-priced system for your motorcycle and 2) you're not afraid to cut/extend the wiring to make the system usable and 3) you have several hours to run wiring and 4) you're not an audiophile who demands anything more than highs and midrange, then this system is for you. I installed on an '07 Road King With the volume at %100 volume the high notes were ear piercing and distorted. I knew the speakers were capable but needed to be dialed in. I use Spotify on an Android phone, I downloaded an equalizer called "poweramp" and fine tuned the equalizer and the speakers sound pretty decent at 70-80mph. For the price I am completely satisfied, the only thing I need now is a Bluetooth controller to skip songs on my phone.

Maybe I'm just getting fed up but I'm tired of purchasing motorcycle speaker and having issues with them. I was pretty excited about this set considering I've had enough of Pyle's Motorcycle speakers. I went through two sets of them and the only reason I did that is because they're customer service was nice enough to send me another set after the first one's malfunctioned. So I order these after reading the reviews and received the package which came timely... that's the only plus. Opened the package and was pretty excited about installing them. Now I'm looking for the instructions just to make sure I'm doing this properly and ummmm... where are they? There was some basic non-instructional on "how to install" which was rather useless. But this isn't my first rodeo so on with it. I saw some previous complaints about the claims. Not to much of a problem for me, I mean, I actually liked them once you figure them out. Would have been easier if there were some instructions provided but oh well... I got em set up, ran my wires, hooked everything up, setting up the volume control... Yeah, there's a lot of improvising needed but again I didn't mind. Everything is set up and I'm ready to roll right because I just know these are going to work and not only that, much better than those Pyles right? WRONG!!!! Only one speaker worked right out of the box. Did some trouble shooting which was minimal because I had no instructions and there wasn't much to it other than checking the wires but everything is plugged and attached as it should be. Just couldn't get the other speaker to work. So with that said, I think I'm giving up on these self-installed speakers and take my bike somewhere to get something professionally installed. I'm tired of wasting money and I'm tired of wasting time.

J’ai acheté ces haut parleurs il y a 4 ans. Je n’ai pas de garage et ils ont subi la pluie quelques fois mais toujours un son impeccable pour ma HD softail. Bon à 120km/hre on l’entends moins mais on l’entends pareil. Ne se compare pas à un système de son de FLH mais ça crache pas mal pareil et plusieurs de mes amis en ont commandé. Je les commandes de nouveau car ils ont commencés à faire des fluctuations de son… Pour le prix, ils valent vraiment la peine ! Je recommande fortement
