Beautiful quality watch
This watch is beautiful, elegantly simple, and works perfectly. The date display is perfectly sized. Unlike some watches I own, I can easily read the date on this one. I particularly wanted the solar charged battery that drives this watch. This is my second Citizen watch with the solar powered battery. I also purchased another one for my son a few years ago that he loves and wears daily. Citizen pioneered this technology and it works superbly. I will be reluctant to ever again purchase a watch that requires a traditional battery that wears out and requires replacement. When I first took this watch out of its box and set the time, it initially ran a little slow and did not keep time accurately. But, after allowing it to be exposed to light for a little while (less than an hour), I re-set it and it has kept perfect time since. I would have preferred a genuine leather wrist band. I will get one if and when I need a replacement band. But the one that comes with the watch is certainly attractive, comfortable and functional and you have to feel it and look very closely to notice it is not genuine leather. I give this watch five stars!

The Gentleman's Comprehensive Review of the Citizen Corso
As an owner of nearly four watches, and one who has seen several others, I consider myself something of a veteran of the field. Yet armed with all my knowledge, the greatest weapon in my arsenal is the trident of intuition, and as I cast it into the Amazonian sea, my heart found itself drawn one above all others: the Citizen Corso. The piece is wonderfully understated - minimalist, aesthetic, etc. — with a thinness of profile to match. It features neither the angular aggression of the steel G-Shock, nor the ostentatiousness of "fashion" watches. No, the Citizen Corso is a watch for a man who compensates for nothing, and presents himself with a grace and confidence of one who knows that value and sophistication are not mutually exclusive. Its inviting curves and eloquent stylings whisper sweet nothings to those who wear it, assuming they have ears for poetry. That which binds this sonnet of design to the wearer is, however, another story. The strap could best be described as hard. Erect. A seemingly Viagric concoction of hate and leather unsuitable for the sensitive wrist of a gentleman. It hurts, and frankly, it dishonors the memory of the cow that died for it. Jesus once declared that it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus never owned a Citizen Corso, and on the subject of needles, it must be said that none, however thin, could ever hope to pierce that strap or its impossibly tiny holes. For the sake of brevity, I'll leave my issues with the strap. Cheap leather can be replaced, but timeless design stands alone. If you want a watch that will take you anywhere, get a Casio. If you want the latest and greatest software can offer, get a smartwatch. But if you want a watch that will earn you the respect of men, and the universal affection of women, go Corso or go home.

A great basic no frill watch
Ah, yes. The Citizen Corso Eco-Drive Japanese watch. There are many out there as indicated by the reviews on Amazon, I now have one to call my own. Compared to all the modern watches with the latest tech, this one will take you back in time when the days were simpler and we had to download and print maps on mapquest just to get around town. I have one too many g-shocks and a clunky Garmin 'life saving' watch that would allow me to be dropped off anywhere in the world and be able to find my way home. Wearing these watches tho isnt formal event friendly. I bought this Corso as a "dress" watch to wear to weddings to make conversation about how inexpensive this watch is. It won't impress my snooty extended family members with their Omegas, Panerai, and over priced men's jewelry, however the function of letting them know when to stfu is spot on. I just look down at my watch and at any moments notice to tell them what time it is. What a bargain! But I digress... This Citizen watch will do what its suppose to do and tell the time accurately without having to worry about changing the batteries every few years. It has a very simple look and is easy to read without all that bling. There is no anxiety causing seconds hand, so it'll take a little getting used to. Time and Date is incredibly easy to set. I'm not sure why some people on here needs instructions to figure this out, to each their own I guess... In all honesty, I don't go to many weddings so buying this watch was a bit of a lost cause to fill a gaping void in my soul. It's nice to be ready whenever I get that flowerly invitation!

Almost exactly what I'm looking for
I've been looking for a solar (or plain quartz) powered watch for accuracy and ease of maintenance, with stick or baton indices - no numerals, and minimal markings & complications for a simple, de-cluttered dial. Also one with wide hands and hour indices with high-contrast luminescent paint for low-light visibility. This watch has that all, plus a beautiful black sun-burst dial, discreet date window, and classy, classic appearance that's just a tad flashy with its reflectiveness but retains its utility. It can pass as a dress watch and works as a casual watch too. The lack of a second hand wasn't a deal breaker for me, but I've surprisingly come to really like it. I won't be timing anything down to the second with this watch, but the lack of perceptible movement makes the watch surprisingly calming to check. I've come to realize if you're only checking the general time to about a minute, a second hand's a nuisance. Cons: Only 30m water resistance and easily scratched mineral crystal means I'll have to baby this thing. For a daily beater I prefer the ease-of-mind of 50-100m WR and sapphire crystal that's near impossible to scratch. I'm in love with everything else about this case and dial. Some added toughness would make it perfect. Oh also the strap is possibly the worst strap I've ever seen - went straight in the trash.

A real winner
This is a very nicely designed and finished watch. The dial is simple (how I like them!) but quite beautiful with its starburst effect and the faceted hour markers. The lume allows me to easily read the time all night with no special 'charging'. I like the case shape and the lugs; it reminds me a bit of military watches. The tick (every other second) is inaudible under normal circumstances. This combined with the lack of a seconds hand makes for a very zen experience when checking the time. And of course with Eco-Drive it keeps going, and going, and going ... My one gripe is Citizen's standard gloss black padded leather strap that comes with it. It just doesn't match the spirit of this watch. I immediately put it on a Barton black silicone strap which suits it perfectly in my opinion. This combo is light, comfortable, classy and very modern looking. But it does push the total up around $100. Compared to other quartz watches, Eco-Drives aren't exactly cheap, but they are well-made and have a great warranty. The official water resistance on this one is just the basic "rain and hand washing" level, but I know that people have swum and even snorkeled with other Citizens that have the same rating. I wouldn't make a habit of it but if I needed to do it I wouldn't be too worried ... at least while the watch is new and the gaskets are fresh.

Really Good Watch!
I've had this watch for about a week and could not be happier. It's a good size. Not too big or too small. It's also not too thick, so my work shirts can slide over it easily, as opposed to some of the larger dress watches and chronographs. The style is on the dressy side. So it works well to wear at work. But I've also worn it out at night and on weekends; so it can survive in a casual environment too. At this price point, I haven't found one that's better. Ideally, I would have purchased a watch that had better water proofing -- this one is just water resistant -- but that's a minor issue and I knew it when I purchased.

Nice piece for the price
Nice little watch for the price. The face has a nice finish to it. The picture on amazon gives a reflection on the glass which makes it look like this watch has a seconds hand, however it does not. Keep it mind if you want that feature. This watch being solar is very convenient in the long run. No going to the store to get a battery replaced. The leather strap on this watch is definitely on the "tough" side. I really had to work it to get it bend around my wrist easily. However it does look nice once it's softened. Overall very happy with the quality on the glass, the face, and the housing. Especially considering the price.

Poor Strap Detracts from watch
I rated this watch at only 3 stars only because the strap was obviously cheap and flimsy. I would expect a much better strap at this price! I did keep the watch and ordered a quality strap from Amazon. The replacement strap was only $20.

Citizen Men's AU1040-08E Men's Strap Eco-Drive Watch
The luminous dial is not as visible in the dark, as other cheaper watches I have purchased in the past, somewhat disappointed

Buena relación calidad precio
Reloj elegante y muy ligero, va perfecto con traje pero también combina con ropa casual. El que sea ecodrive hace que te olvides de cambiarle la pila por mucho tiempo. Muy recomendable.
