Product Description Twenty years ago the world was introduced to Edina and Patsy (Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley), and it has never been quite the same since. The original fashionistas, PR rep Eddy and best friend Patsy were often found at the bottom of a champagne bottle – and not much has changed. Now, reprising their award-winning performances in three specials, we see a life-changing experience for one of the characters; Eddy has set her sights on changing the career of a very big fish indeed; and Eddy and Patsy play their own very special part in the London 2012 Olympics. Twenty years since we first met them, the ladies are a tiny bit older, none the wiser, but definitely still Absolutely Fabulous. desertcart.com Ab Fab fans, rejoice! Eddie and Patsy (the marvelous Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley) have returned to stagger, flounder, and complain their way through a new era. Is it sad or delightful that this satire of narcissistic consumerism is about as relevant now as it was in the early 1990s? Absolutely Fabulous: 20th Anniversary Specials includes three new half-hour episodes and a couple of special features (basically a mini-episode and a behind-the-scenes featurette about the mini-episode). In "Identity," Edina's long-suffering daughter Saffron (the underrated Julia Sawalha, as crucial to the series as Saunders and Lumley) comes home after a long absence, bringing along a guest with an unwelcome connection to Patsy. "Job" follows Eddie's attempts to promote a singing venture by her new client, a famous French film star (played with delicious ennui by Lindsay Duncan)--who, it turns out, can't sing. And in "Olympics," London hosting the Olympics is merely the backdrop for lust (Eddie is all aquiver that Michael Douglas is coming to visit her) and greed (Eddie pursues designer Stella McCartney in the hope of getting free clothes). Through it all wander Eddie's acerbic mother (June Whitfield) and addled assistant Bubble (Jane Horrocks). None of it quite rises to the heights of classic Ab Fab, but that's hardly surprising; the cream of the original five series is inspired comedy, fusing social satire and madcap slapstick. What's impressive is that, a decade later, Saunders and Lumley step back into their teetering stilettos with verve and zest. Fans will appreciate this most, but even newcomers will find much to enjoy. --Bret Fetzer Review: Ab Fab is back!! - This is a nice wrap up to the 5 seasons of Ab Fab. It's great to see everyone again. I love the irreverence, name dropping, guest stars [who ARE stars], & how nothing & no one is off limits from the sharp tongue barbs of Eddy & Patsy. I have loved this show from the beginning & whenever I am feeling down, I pop in the DVD's & I am laughing my a$$ off. My daughter gave me the complete series [which is in a beautiful quilted, silver case] for Mother's Day a few years ago. One of the best gifts I've received. Will last forever. The chemistry among the cast is fantastic. To see Saffy & then watch her character, Dorcas Lane in Lark Rise from Candleford blows me away. What talent & acting skills Julia has. Except for the drugs, alcohol, & promiscuity [Patsy], I am 90% Eddy & 10% Patsy. I'm always trying New Age fads [chanting, crystals, enlightenment retreats], there's an ex I detest, have children, grandchildren, weight issues, & I like dressing up & looking glamorous. I envy Jennifer Saunders' talent for writing these shows. Where does she get her ideas from? Great imagination and/or maybe slices of real life? I like seeing bits of London, Paris, & other places when the show has gone on location. I envy Joanna's looong legs. Would love to see more Ab Fab shows. I can't get enough. I'm addicted, lol. Review: Patsy and Eddie are back again!! - This is my most favorite television show ever! I can't get enough of Patsy and Eddie's antics! This is one of the funniest shows on television. It's nice to have them all back again for another go 'round of laughter! I have been a fan of this show for many years and re-watch it whenever I need a laugh and am never disappointed. I never get tired of seeing these folks! Jennifer Saunders is one of the funniest comedians out there. I also watch her on the 'French & Saunders' shows that she does with her 'comedy partner' Dawn French. You can't go wrong with Absolutely Fabulous!!!

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS - ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS
20 years after the series first aired it was good to see what this bunch of crazies were up to and they did not disappoint in these 3 episode - Edwina and Patsy are as narcisistic as every Safron is still uptight - Bubbles is still an idiot and Mrs. Moonsoon is still amazing with her one line zingers. Even the Olympics is not spared the indignity of Patsy and Edwina's antics - I loved every moment of this and would recommend it as a must have

I just love Eddie and Patsy... they are horrible people.
Oh my gosh, my golly-- Do I love this show! I could never give it less than five stars. For any woman over 35-- this will speak to you at some point. Yes, Eddie and Patsy drink too much, Patsy is often drug addled, they are entirely superficial and poor Saffy (Eddie's daughter) is a work horse in their house... they behave badly and yet-- THEY UNDERSTAND US! Whether it's jokes about menopause, or the downsides of being ambitious and a mother, or dating as someone out of their 20's, or divorce, or the affects of having children on one's body, aging- Jennifer Saunders (the writer and actress that plays Eddie) does a great job of writing this, the actors are all perfect for their parts, and it's just hilarious. Watch all the seasons right from the beginning for the best experience. I love this scene-- Eddie pulls up her shirt for Patsy and says "Honestly, what's your opinion. Be honest" and Patsy replies something along the lines of "Surgery. Liposuction on the stomach and hips, umm bum lift, boob lift, lose a rib."

It's Ab Fab for the fans
It was such a joy to see Eddie and Patsy and the crew back together again. For those familiar with the show, these episodes will be a treat - they are not the best that the series has had to offer, but there are plenty of jokes that land strongly and a lot of nods to previous episodes. If you are new to the series, do NOT start here. Start from season 01. My favorite of the three 20th anniv specials is "Job." Jane Horrocks gets to show off her voice talents in a surprising way that had me practically rolling on the floor laughing.

There's not ENOUGH STARS TO RATE THIS FAB SHOW!!!
I first saw ab.fab. years ago in New York. I was living there in the 80's. A friend had it on, when my girlfriend and I stopped over before going to CBGG's. I loved it!! However, thanks to my dad, Ihad a slight advantage. He was always watching British sitcoms on public televidion in New Orleans. From his favorite Benny Hill, to my favorites Fawlty Towers, andARE YOU BEING SERVED. Now 25 years later, I have the entire collection of Absolutely Fabulous, on DVD and on hulu plus. Both Jeniffer Saunders, and Joanna Lumley, are beyond hilarious! We also have Jane Horruks, aka. BUBBLE, and Katy Grin. Saffy, Gran, Bo and Marshall, Justin. IT IS SO SO TWISTED, IT REMINDS ME OF MY LIFE, WITHOUT THE MONEY!! BUT THE GENIUS OF SAUNDERS & DAWN FRENCH (The Vicar of Dibley), THEY HAVE IT, HAVE HAD IT FOR YEARS....AND I BLOODY WELL WANT IT TOO,,,, NO I DESERVE IT , AS MY LA DE DA RICH BITCH TROLL FROM HELL SISTER DOSEN'T!!!!!? IWANT IT OH EDDIE, ED, ED I still wear my 5 inch stilletos to work, my sister owns a pub, where I work as her slave bartender Love, love you all....also Titticaca!!!! Lisa deville New Orleans

A Great Addition To the Collection
The episodes go from really funny (the first one) to crazy, but not quite as good as the first one (second episode) to funny, but could have been funnier (third episode). Each episode contains a new classic moment that will make you chuckle after the fact. Some episodes are funny overall without a lot of laughs throughout, but that doesn't describe any of these three. The special features are very good. There's the filming of a PSA or something with most, but not all of the characters that is very funny, but I don't think the final result is shown. That part is packed with big name celebrities. Unfortunately, my dog got a hold of the packaging and chewed it up, though the discs were not damaged, I won't rest until I get a new copy. If you agree with me that the funniest episode ever is when Saffron writes the play about her childhood then you'll probably agree with my thoughts more or less. Can't wait for more.....

I really enjoyed this DVD, Patsy and Eddie are still as fabulous as ever. The part that I find funny is after 20 years; they have learned nothing and done nothing with their lives. I laugh at the idea that for them, every day is a self induced, strung out adventure where they try again to climb to the top of the who's who world only to fall on their face so they can try again tomorrow; certainly persistent. Worth point out too that at least Patsy has come to realize that she is getting old and does not want to do the club seen anymore. Eddie refuses to give that up.

These three episodes are very current including one covering Olympic fever. These ladies have not lost any of their capacity to make us laugh. If you enjoyed the original series then you will enjoy this DVD. The only minor drawback is that Jane Horrocks as Bubble looks misplaced in middle age in a "mutton dressed as lamb" sense.

In this newest installment, Patsy and Eddie are crazy as always and actually are looking quite good considering the last episodes were shot some years ago. This disc contains only 3 episodes, so I guess they will be releasing another in the upcoming year. The price on this is a little high, but if you love Ab Fab, you must get this one.
