Looking for element pens

Ive had great success making my own stilt pins with B mix paperclay and scraps of other clays that will fire to cone 6. I ve made large open triangles, open squares, open circles, as well as quarter-sized pancakes. I insert the pins at the leather hard stage, let air dry, and fire them in amongst my next kiln load. They have held up my bowls through 5 different trips so far through the kiln at low and up to cone six with no problems. You need to have the clay be as thick as at least half way up the pins height, and keep the pins straight up, good luck!

Will these survive a cone 10 firing?

No, they are rated to Cone 5, which is approximately 400 degrees less than cone 10. Anything above Cone 5 is considered High Fire, which is why they are listed as such.

I like the uniformity of the pins and that they are pointed on both ends. They made a cheap alternative to buying stilts which I couldn't find in the size I needed anyway. Now I can make my own. Problem solved!
