Forever Litter Tray. Great Product & Huge Money Saver for the Scoopfree Litter Box! Product Simply WORKS!
This is the 2nd Forever Litter Tray I've purchased in about 5 years. I can't explain how much money this has saved us over the years over those expensive, throw-away litter cartridge trays. The first one purchased prob. 5 years ago just recently began leaking at one of the seams. I have no complaints though, as it lasted approx. 5 years. Just so people understand, the newer version of the Forever Litter Tray has absolutely no seams and is a single, molded piece, so there are no glued/bonded pieces or seams to leak. There's also a ridge present on one end of the newer-model tray that prevents a lot of good litter from being scooped under the waste area when the rake runs, which is nice. As the manufacturer of the tray recommends, the longevity of the litter in-between full litter changes is assisted by frequent sifting or swirling around of the litter in the tray. This tray doesn't permit what I'd call a "set it and forget it" type of situation. I will say that we've gone on vacation for a week or slightly longer a few times in the past and haven't asked the neighbors that have popped in daily to check on / feed our cats to swirl the litter around, and while everything in the litter box was fine once we returned, you *ARE* going to get fewer odors and longer life out of the crystal-based litter in the tray if you just stop by the box at least once daily and of course empty out the solid waste if you choose, and definitely mix-up and swirl around the litter in the tray to keep it as fresh as possible. I'd recommend the frequent solid waste emptying and the litter swirling/mixing regardless of whether the litter was in the Forever Litter Tray or any other type of permanent or throw-away tray, so this isn't anything specific to just the Forever Litter Tray. The previous tray was easy to clean, and although the recent replacement tray has only been in use for a few days and the material it's made out of is a slightly darker color than my original tray, I anticipate this new tray being just as easy to clean. Even nice again is the absence of seams on the new tray, so there's no concern of ongoing cleaning of the tray wearing-out any sort of epoxy or adhesive that was used in bonding the previous tray's seams together. I've never been able to think of any sort of downside to the Forever Litter Tray at all. It just simply works and makes the care/cleaning of the ScoopFree Litter Box much easier and way more economical than going the throw-away litter cartridge route. Excellent product, wonderful & fast customer service and response from the manufacturer should you ever have problems/questions, and would rate the Forever Litter Tray a 6 if it was available on the rating scale!

You need this if you own the ScoopFree litter box. Works great and makes poop clean-up a breeze!
Update: 9/22/2019 We just bought our third one as we now have 5 cats and three Scoopfree boxes in addition to our regular boxes. The first two are still working great. I saw a couple of new reviews that said it was hard to clean. I don't find that to be true. Don't be stingy with the crystal litter and if changed frequently as per box use it is not hard to scrap the wet crystals of the bottom. I use Lysol wipes and if something is stuck I spray it with Anti-icky Poo unscented and it comes off after a quick soak. The Anti-icky Poo is amazing at getting rid of any urine scent. These have saved so much money and most importantly we have never had a leak onto the floor if I have been lazy about changing them. I also saw a review that it cost too much. I disagree. In my opinion this is a niche product that is not manufactured in large enough quantities to keep the price way down. After using my originals for years, it does not retain odors (I thought I might have to replace them after a couple of years but for now they are fine) It is a solid material and not a cheap plastic. That is just my two cents. lol Fantastic. I have four cats and a designated litter box area in our basement. Our most recent addition has decided that he only wants to go the the bathroom on the main floor of the house, and use crystal litter (we got him around 6 months of age and that was what he was used to.) Hence he went on a peeing rampage in all the cat beds on the main floor until we finally caved and put a litter box upstairs. Since we have four cats I thought it would be more economical to get a reusable tray. He is also used to using a specific crystal litter and I didn't want to switch initially, although I do plan on trying the litter made by the makers of the forever tray. I initially used the tray that came with the Scoopfree for the first week (while I was waiting for delivery of the Forever Litter Tray). It was fine, but because I have so many cats pooping in the box I prefer to clean out the poop once a day so it doesn't get too stinky. It was sort of a pain to move the top of the cardboard box around the little plastic pieces that stick out. I often scattered litter doing it or touched the poop trying to pop it off. I also had concerns about the cat urine soaking through the box. The Forever Tray came simply packaged and was easy to get out of its box. The first thing I noticed was the plastic it is made out of. It is hard plastic that so far has not had staining or scratches from my cats (I've been using it for about three weeks). It wipes down very easily after the litter is dumped out. I just use a Clorox wipe. I noticed that the lip that stays under the front of the box is raised and curved in and does a great job not letting the poop get pushed out when it is full. I think my absolute favorite part about this is the plastic extension piece that comes with the box that gets clipped on the "lid" that moves up and down. It blocks off the poop (although to be fair not as much as the covered cardboard on the reusable boxes that come with the machine), but it allows me to pull the lid back or completely off and clean out the poop. IT IS SO MUCH EASIER. That in my opinion is key if you want to clean out the box every couple of days. I just take a used grocery bag and scoop it all in, and done. This makes a huge difference in keeping the box smelling fresh. Quite honestly I don't know why they don't make the machine like that. So in summary, the box does what it is intended to do very well. It makes cleaning out the poop so much easier, and is a breeze to clean. Just dump it out and wipe it down and done. I know some people might like the idea of just throwing out a disposable tray, but this was so easy (even more so than a regular box) and it just so much more environmentally friendly. I happened to be using Dr. Elseys crystal litter for seniors right now with no problems, but will try the "Just the Crystals" litter made by forever litter tray when I run out. I'm extremely pleased with this tray, and like I said I think it makes the already great litter box system a whole lot better. One last note, I had some questions and to my surprise the owner of the company replied to me . He did an exceptional job answering them and I greatly appreciated it.

Superior performance and economy for PetSmart automatic litter boxes!
There are several excellent reasons to use the Forever Litter Tray with your Petsafe Scoopfree Automatic Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box. Sticking with Petsafe disposable litter trays is not only expensive compared to buying crystal litter in bulk, but it also doesn't give you any additional litter to add to the litter box between changes to keep the litter topped off and fresh. If youโve been put-off by the perception that itโs a hard job, youโll find the Forever Litter Tray surprisingly easy to clean. โข Make sure you use a quality crystal litter. You can find several highly rated on Amazon. You can also buy an assortment at your local stores. โข Cats typically use the same spot in the litter box, so stir the litter regularly to allow it to better absorb moisture and keep litter from sticking to the bottom of the tray. โข Add a thin layer of new litter as needed. Litter will adhere to solid waste and your cats will inevitably scratch some litter outside the litter box as they instinctively โcoverโ their waste. โข For easier clean-up, you can slip the tray into a large kitchen garbage bagโperfect fit. Using bags with drawstrings keeps things contained and prevents accidental spills. Bags that are scented virtually eliminate used litter odor until you throw them out. โข Once the tray is empty, you can use your litter scoop to scrape out anything left on the bottom of the trayโvery easy if youโve already put the tray in a large kitchen garbage bag to empty it. โข Use your favorite spray cleaner and paper towels on the tray interior to remove stains and odors. Donโt forget to wipe the litter tray afterwards to make sure itโs completely dry before adding new litter. The Forever Litter Tray is well-made of first-rate materials and will last you a very long timeโsaving money along the way!

A money saver for the ScoopFree!
This is my first time using the scoopfree and I really did not want to use their almost $20 each disposable cartriges (which by the way are pretty sturdy in themselves. You can get away with buying litter crystals and reusing the cardboard cartriges IF you shift the cat litter to avoid wet spots staying in one area). So this is really awesome! It pays for itself in 3 months and won't leak through (hard plastic). You need to put in 4 lbs of crystal cat litter per full change. I would still recommend sifting the litter to avoid huge wet spots! The forever litter box is really neat to have and you really should buy one with the forever flaps! (mine came with the "gates" or "flaps" that REALLY do help somewhat with the fecal smell! Or guarding the poop from prying hands/paws.. Strange but true...) Box is not super strong and thick, so I would take care to avoid dropping it or damaging it.. Otherwise it fits the needs! I would greatly recommend this product for your scoopfree! Other than the fact you can reuse it, cleanup is also easy. Just wipe it down with a bit of warm soapy water (don't soak it with your litter box attached!) or your favorite brand of disinfectant wipe (I use Clorox). Also, a word on kitty litter below! I have been experimenting with two crystal cat litters so far. One is the Fresh Step Crystal Cat Litter (available at Walmart for about $14.50 per 8 lb bag) and the other is Mimi's Crystal Cat Litter (available at Walmart for about $4.50 per 4 lb bag). The Fresh Step litter (for my TWO cats) lasts between 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks, while the Mimi's Litter lasts between 1 week to 1 1/2 weeks. This would last longer for one cat and shorter for 3 or more. I believe it would last a month for a single cat, but it depends on whether you sift it so wet spots don't set and how clean you like the litter box to look/smell. I know I could make it last longer but that would be gross :P Fresh Step holds the smell a lot better and lasts longer, but for a months supply of Fresh Step (around $29~$43.50) a months supply of Mimi's is only going to cost you around $13.50~$18.00.. So Mimi's is a way better deal. One other thing. Mimi's does seem to get dirtier fast, but I believe it may be because you can see the urine much better in Mimi's so it looks less clean faster (Fresh Step is mostly blue crystals while Mimi's is mostly white).. I haven't tried any other brands of cat litter so sorry I can't help you on that! ----------------------------- Edit: (09/29/14) Hello there! I wanted to add to this since my first review was 08/2012, and I wanted to give an update! Still using the mimi's crystals (I would recommend ordering them from walmart.com if you can't find them where you live since they will deliver it to their store for free!) I would greatly recommend using mimi's as it does a great job at removing moisture and scents from the excrement and urine. Over the past few years, my cats still prefer the regular litter boxes to this one. If you would use this by itself, they WILL use it. I have 2 other plain litterboxes and this automatic one. They use the regular boxes almost exclusively, but they still use this one from time to time (as one of my stinky felines realized that it does cover up the scent of his crap better..) The box still works just like it did when I bought it and I can leave it for months at a time without changing the litter (even if they don't use it as often, it still has stuff in it) If I would use it exclusively, yes, they would use it, and yes it would be a big money saver! But for the way I use it, it doesn't cause much of a change >_< It does help the room stink a lot less though, and I do really like it. It does not fail me, I more failed it because I have multiple cats (when you have 1 cat, use 1 to 2 litter boxes, for 2 cats, use 2 + 1, ect) If I bought 2 more of these, they would take a bit to make up for their price xD but overall, exclusive use to just the automatic litter box will save you time on dumping litter, save you money on litter (Mimi's litter for me!! http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mimi-Litter-Cat-Litter-4-lb-Cats/12018928 ), and will help keep odors down!! The forever litter tray, which I wholly recommend, is still going strong as well!

A MUST HAVE for anyone with the Scoop Free Litter Box!
I have been using it for a few weeks now. I really like it! I really like the Scoop Free litter box and not having to buy the cardboard trays is more ecological and economical. I was looking at litter boxes at Walmart and discussing options with a family member when some random lady approached me telling me I needed a Scoop Free box and if I did to get a reusable tray. So I first found out about these trays via word of mouth. After reading reviews online and in several chat rooms, I decided that the Forever Litter Tray was the best and waited for it to become available. Here is what I have found: Pros: - Easier to scrape things that get stuck to the box (which happens very rarely) off of the plastic versus the coated cardboard. - The little extender plastic thing you slide on the purple part is a really nice feature. It traps the poop and seals it in more and fits well. I felt that the magnets on the cardboard boxes never were that strong or never lined up right and this fixes that problem. - Initially, $49 seems like a lot to pay, but it pays for itself in a few months. - Plastic seems very strong and durable to me. So far it has not gotten stained. - I like the seamless design and how I don't have to worry about leaks. - Better for the environment. - You can use a litter liner with this if you are careful to put it on tightly so the rake does not catch and tear it. - Easy to hose off in the shower or back yard to clean it. Tips: - I cut a grippy carpet mat to put underneath my box. This keeps it from slipping and prevents the plastic from scratching the floor. - I scoop the poop out of the trap into a Litter Genie and stir the litter probably twice a day, as I don't want a cat smell in my house. Even though you can let the poop sit in the Scoop Free box for up to a month doesn't mean you should. It is very easy to keep up with basic litter box maintenance if you are a clean freak like I am. - In the end of the box past the lip where the rake does not go I put a bit of clumping litter so that poop that gets raked there gets coated in the clumping litter while also being dried by the crystals. It just is another defense against smelliness and grossness, and helps when I scoop the poop out of there. Try the Just the Crystals litter mixed with a bit of the finer Mimi litter in this reusable tray. I have found that to be a good mix of textures. If your cat is having trouble transitioning to the box and litter because it doesn't like the crystal litter (because it looks weird and does not smell organic) try sprinkling some Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract on top of the litter. It does not interfere with the rake and the smell makes them feel more comfortable.

Highly recommend for Petsafe litter box users, just bought my second!
Having cats as a kid I knew I did not want to clean the litter box out every day when we got our 2 little ones. I was recommended the PetSafe smart litter box and loved it but the litter cost was expensive with the disposable cartridges (not to mention the waste involved). I found this litter box mold and it has been perfect! I love the fact that I can use any crystal litter I want (need non-clumping litter for the automated box to work properly) and don't need to rely on the cartridges (that always seem to be out of stock now). Cleaning is super easy, after 10-14 days of use I put the litter box against a trash back and dump everything in. Then I scrape anything left with a scooper so it falls in the bag. I rinse out the litter box with a hose or in the sink and then dump a mix of white vinegar and water to sit in the box for a few minutes before rinsing/drying out. I've done this for 2+ years now and the box is in great condition. Why am I writing this review now? Well we have 2 cats and 2 boxes and I am 50% lazy so I've been using this box for one and using the cartridges for the other. The cartridges are easier as you just reload, dispose and you're ready to go. I like having them for while we're on vacation so I can just slide a new one in when we're back and not have to worry about it (or if our sitter needs to). That being said, the costs have gone up and I realized the effort to cleaning this box is worth the hundreds of dollars a year I'd save. The litter alone is roughly $20 for 2 boxes worth vs $55 for 3 cartridges. You can do the math but that means after 2-3 months this thing pays for itself. Not to mention it's less wasteful. I'd recommend this for anyone with a PetSafe litter box and willing to spend 10 minutes/month changing & cleaning their box.

LOVE THIS TRAY...but be aware it might not work on the newer PetSafe Pro boxes
I don't normally do reviews, but felt it was necessary this time. I purchased a new PetSafe Scoop Free Crystal Pro litter box. I prefer the non disposable tray due to cost and bought this one from Forever Tray because I liked the design better (the bar gets clipped instead of a magnet. Also, I feel the lip in the tray is a waste of space). Of course this and other non disposable trays say that they are compatible with PetSafe. They are, but not the newer Crystal Pro. I went to change the box from the disposable tray that was delivered with my new box to the ForeverTray. The machine wouldn't work. A little research and an email to ForeverTray explained the problem. Here was their quick response: In their efforts to eliminate any competition, Petsafe has incorporated an RFID sticker on their trays and a sensor on the Pro/Plus machines, so that if the machine doesn't sense the RFID it will alarm red and not function. Attached is an easy step by step guideline that will allow you to use the Forever Litter Tray (or any other tray of your choosing, for that matter). As you can see we not only take a great deal of pride in our product, but also strive to provide the best possible customer care -- so please let me know how this goes and if you have any questions or problems at all. We're here to help!! Basically you have to get the RFID sticker from a disposable litter tray and tape it on the ForeverTray. This was great but now the litter box won't reset when you change it. I contacted ForeverTray to see if they had another solution and unfortunately they didn't, but they did try. I finally contacted PetSafe and this is what happened: I finally reached out to PetSafe today. It was a very pleasant conversation. I told the service rep that while I love their product, I'm not happy about the non-disposable tray being so proprietary. I preferred a different manufacturer's tray mostly for the way the bar is attached (clips instead of a magnet). I also like that little lip in the tray being gone, but that isn't as big of a deal. The service rep at first asked if any of the items were returnable, she was going to do something about a new box. I didn't delve into that because I wasn't interested and it was past the return date (I guess it was good that I delayed getting this done). Anyways she is, (as a courtesy), sending me out their new stainless tray. The stainless tray has the required RFID sticker and should work. We continued to chat and I restated that while I love their product, this tray is not where they make their money and they should offer a solution. I even suggested sending me an RFID sticker to place on my new non disposable tray. Whether it goes any further than her is unknown, but I think this should solve my problem. I really don't like not being able to reset the # of times my cat uses the box. I know at about 30 uses I need to check and see how it's doing. Right now I'm using a sticky note every time I change it so I know what number I started on. This is what happens when companies make changes to a product that works for some, but not for all, and then make it proprietary. I will take the time to do a review on Amazon especially since you were invested in me getting a solution. So bottom line, love the Forever Tray, but depending on what you're looking for, it doesn't work properly on the new PetSafe litter boxes. Although I would buy it again. I love the clip instead of the magnets. Also their customer service was excellent!! Maybe with enough people calling PetSafe and complaining, they will make a workaround that is easier. I don't like it when a company is so proprietary like PetSafe, everyone is looking for something a little different and these trays are not where they are making their money so a workaround would be nice.

Not my favorite, would rather use the cardboard throw away one time use trays
Itโs ok.. I would rather just buy the throw away trays. Pee puddles and sticks to the bottom of the tray making it more of a hassle to clean every time. I tried placing a pee pad on the bottom but it ended up getting shredded by the rake. The clip that replaces the magnet function on the lifting compartment kept falling off. Kind of a hassleโฆ would rather spend the extra $$ on the cardboard throw away trays.

Fits the ultra safe auto litter tray
Fits the ultra safe perfectly, a little expensive but saving money on disposable litter trays that are sold with the automatic system.

An affordable and effective automatic litter solution
We have six indoor cats and we've been using LitterMaid automatic litters for years. Two months ago, we switched half (3) of our automatic litters to Scoopfree with Forever Litter Trays and Just the Crystals Premium cat Litter. The difference is remarkable! The Scoopfree litter with Forever Litter Trays stays cleaner longer, requires less frequent maintenance, and is much quieter -- we hardly hear it at all. Price wise, the Forever Litter Trays save a lot of money in the long-run by allowing us to avoid buying expensive Scoopfree tray replacements. Four of our cats made the switch to crystal litter right away, while the other two still tend to prefer the clumping litter that is used with the LitterMaid automatic litters. However, all six cats are willing to use the crystal litter at least periodically and in time we plan to replace all our litters with the Scoopfree and Forever Litter Tray combo. Our cats tend to track the crystals out of the litter box as they did with clumping litter, but the crystals are easier to sweep up and there's no dust. We have not had any problems with crystals getting stuck in our longer-haired cats' paws, which was an issue we faced with clumping litter.
