I don't think these socks were made for athletic/outdoor activity. They're loose and comfy but definitely not for anything that would cause wear/tear.I bought three pair at $3 each (they were on sale). And I've used Thorlo's as well as Costco's Kirkland Signature wool socks. These are my first pair of Sockwell socks. I do want to point out that the wool content is this is on the lighter side...whereas Kirkland's is over 60% (this number does change, usually less with each year's new release). I bought these to keep my feet warm during the fall/winter in bed. I also plan on using these for hikes, though I don't have a lot of confidence in these because I don't think they'll be blister-proof due to the thinner and less wool content nature.For walking in tennis shoes and sleeping, these are comfy and great. With any wool socks, expect static if you're walking directly on carpet/rug. I've zapped my dog, the doorknob, and computer many times walking around without slippers under these socks.I'm not diabetic, but I can attest to the looser nature of the fit.
