Kalorik Glass Toaster

I love this pretty, stylish toaster that not only looks good but cooks all kinds of bread and bagels to perfection. It's hot, so start out with the heat setting around 3 for sliced bread and slightly over 3 for bagels.. I prefer light toasted bread though. I love the bagel button which is pressed "on" after the lever is pressed down into the toaster. Likewise for the defrost feature. Took me a few times to figure that out. I also like the crumb slider under the toaster that should be removed and the crumbs disgarded after each toasting. This keeps the crumbs from burning inside the toaster and smelling up the kitchen. I've had the toaster for over 6 months now. No problems and great performance.

I liked this toaster a lot when I purchased it. Stylish design. Attractive on the counter. Decent toasting. The slots are large enough for thick breads or sliced rolls and bagels. The edges did not toast too well but no big deal. Then last night I could not make toast because the spring no longer works. When pressed down nothing happens. My husband mentioned that this had happened to him before also. But he got it to work. No longer. I purchased this toaster to replace my mom's Sunbeam automatic over 50 years old. It did not break but did get rather hot. I have had the appliance too long to get any satisfaction from Amazon. I am waiting on a reply from Kalorik. I hope they will honor the purchase and replace the defective item.

Finally a toaster that toasts bread evenly on both sides! I knew I was on the something when I read it it had quartz elements, not resistance filaments. In response to other reviews I've read, I would agree that the lever and handle could be a bit more sturdy, my advice is, if you like it, be gentle with it, don't pound on it like a jackhammer. On the subject of taking a long time to toast, I'm not seeing that at all. What I am seeing as my bread toasting perfectly through the glass window. The defrost, reheat, and bagel functions all work like they're supposed to, what a shocker. The 1 through7 darrkness selector control is spot-on in my opinion as well, I like my bread medium, I have the knob set at three and a half. I hope this thing holds up, if it even lasts a year I'd probably buy another one, that's how much I like it. I would expect no less from the company that held the first patent on a toaster, ever. I've two other Kalorik products and my kitchen for years, I don't see them giving up the ghost anytime soon. A solid buy, wish I'd seen iit way sooner, I sent back three other junk toasters before I found this one.

If you are reading this you are facing the same problem I did---no one really loves their toaster. They are all flawed in some way. I liked the looks of this one. I wanted one that would toast my husbands bagels and long sandwich bread. When I received it, it was beautifully packed. I unpacked it, plugged it in and THE HANDLE WOULD NOT STAY DOWN. I requested an Amazon return and began to repack it. As I picked it up; a large glass window slid out. It was not listed on the parts list and was not mentioned in the instructions. I found out where it went (a slot underneath the toaster) clicked it in and the toaster WORKED!! I just got this and will update it in several months--if I don't the toaster is working fine.

OK, I'm a toaster nut. I'm the person that takes english muffins into William Sonoma to test the toasters. Most toasters are junk and will not make certain bagles and muffings dark enough for me. The old GE's from the 1950's were great, but those days are gone. This toaster is actually pretty good. It toasts my hard-to-darken, moist, english muffings in one setting. And if I need to push it down again I can watch the amount of toasting being done and not burn the food. I wanted a toaster with a window as soon as I saw one that was french. Then that company made one for our country but it was about $250 (uh, no). This one toasts just as well as the other "high end" toaster (also made in China). I am very pleased with this toaster, it is not a 1950's GE that was powerfull enough to set bread on fire, but works nicely. Can't beat the price either.

We were enthralled by the idea of a toaster with a glass front panel that would allow us to tell when our toast was properly browned. We purchased it in spite of the price for just that one feature. Well the glass panel did indeed allow us to tell when our toast had reached the proper brownness. To our dismay however, when the toast came out, the rear side, the one not visible, was black as coal. It was carbon. We tried it several times and each time the toast was totally inedible. Our five year old nineteen dollar toaster we had purchased from Wal-Mart outperformed this one hands down. We returned it for credit and to Amazon's credit they allowed us a full refund. Way to go Amazon.

Amazing toaster! I have had the same piece of crap toaster that cost like 10 dollars for 20 years, it was gross, didnt work very well, but I just couldnt bring myself to spend more money on something that was exactly the same. I decided to splurge on this toaster because 1. it has a glass side so you can see how brown your bread is (I like options) 2. it promised to be easy to clean 3. it would fit larger loaf sizes like delicious bakery bread which everyone knows makes the best toast. What I did not realize when I bought this little gem is that it has a really cool bagel feature which only toasts one side...how cool is that for bagels, or buns? I have already had occasion to clean it and the glass pops right out and I wiped the "smoke stain" off with a sponge and stuck it back in the slot and good as new. I am also loving that the crumb tray is not dropping crumbs all over like previous "crap" toaster mentioned above.

I was looking for a stainless steel looking toaster that had a handle on the side and it works well for this requirement. This toaster has a different heating element than most US made toasters. This is not a bad thing just different. I love the overall look with the other kitchen items on the counter. The heating element works well for english muffins, toast and bagels. Love the glass front. Sophisticated looking and functions extremely well. The only drawback is that there is no tray to pull out the crumbs that fall to the bottom. Tipped it upside down and used a wooden chopstick and felt pipe cleaner to clean out the crumbs. Overall a very satisfied customer.

Looks beautiful on my kitchen counter top. I love this toaster. Only issues is that it seems to take longer to toast than most toasters and it toasts the bottom more than the top.

The "bread carriage handle" on this brand new toaster would not stay down -- toaster had to be returned.
