I have fairly recently renewed my relationship with persimmons. I would see them growing wild as a child and it was a treat to find a ripe one before the deer got to them. Found some sold at a local market and remembered how much I enjoyed them. They are seasonal however and I can only find them fresh in the Nov-Dec timeframe. I came across Fruit for Thought when I did a search to see if dried persimmons were offered online. What a great snack! I can’t recommend them enough! They are mildly sweet and very flavorful and if you enjoy fresh persimmons you will not be disappointed with this product. The slices of fruit in each bag are of varying size but they are all of very good quality. I have probably gone through six or eight bags of these over the last year. Guess it’s ok however since they are a pretty healthy snack. Anyway, as I said earlier, I really can’t recommend Fruit for Thought dried Hachiya Persimmons enough! They’re delicious right out of the bag.

I ordered two packs of these and was pleasantly surprised with the taste. The first pack was a bit hard to eat due to the rough texture, but the second was softer on my teeth. I think this was because I had left the second pack in a warmer area. Maybe if you microwaved these for a few seconds, they would be easier to eat (?). Still, for something that I have to order online and is hard to find locally, I was pretty satisfied!

I accidentally ordered two 2-packs and was mad at myself at first. But then I tried the dried slices of persimmon and became happy I bought so much! I don't like very sweet things and these are just the right amount of sweetness. The remind me a bit of dried jackfruit, but with more flavor, reminiscent of Juicyfruit gum. The texture of the pack I opened is perfect, with a firm dense texture, not overly dry or tough at all.

If you like persimmons, get these. So good! At first touch I was reluctant to eat it because it feels really hard but it’s not. You still have to bite but not hard. It’s also not extremely chewy either, which I really like. You can still taste the persimmon too. Even if you don’t like persimmons give it’s try. The only ingredient is persimmon. No added sugars, no sodium, no fat. A very healthy snack! Also if you are expecting dried persimmons that you find in Asian stores, this is not it. It’s cut thin so not meaty but it still is very good.

Not good at all

I ordered the dried persimmons because I use the Mirai Persimmon soap to brutalize body odor, and thought, "maybe it would work from the inside out, too?" The dried persimmons are nice-sized slices, not overly chewy, but flavor is not a sweet persimmon flavor. They are made without sweeteners, but I'd have thought some of the fruit flavor would come through. I haven't tried yet, but maybe a drizzle of honey would make more palatable, or maybe chopped up in a trail mix. My sister told me about the Mirai Persimmon soap, so I sent her some of the dried fruit also. She feels the same way about the flavor. Needs some sweetness

The contents are obvious - dried persimmons. They are exactly that - full slices, not little pieces. Properly dried and preserved. Tasty. The resealable bags are pretty impressively thick and useful. This one stays on our "get some more" list. Update - After consuming the first of two packages, ordered another pair. Not going to run out. Consistent packaging and predicable product. Will probably set up a subscription as soon as I figure out consumption rates.
