In the pictures I'm attaching, you can see how well it covers the bruises on the bottom of my cheek (and again, this is only the product being applied and a sponge egg being used to smooth/blend it in). Moreover, using it in conjunction with the setting powder really does ensure that it is relatively smudge free for at least 8 hours. This product is amazing, and if you need to cover bruises, it works wonders. I will lastly note in my pictures that I shyed away from using the product near my eye because there were a few cuts that I didn't want to interrupt the healing process, so those bruises were covered by the wrap around sunglasses.
