I love these gloves.
Everlast really made a great product with this design. The thumb holes allow them to fit a range of sizes, fitting my 10yr old son and my average sized hands comfortably. They've been holding up nicely to my gym routine (3x/week), making them a real asset to carry with me in my gym bag. I'm baffled at the reviews complaining of no thumb protection or lack of support. I feel that if I were to actually throw a swing at someone, it would be bare knuckled (unless the target was polite enough to offer me time to put on my gloves with extra thumb protection). Seriously... thumb protection??? I will admit there's a lack of wrist support, but if it's needed, it means you're hitting wrong (refer back to the bare knuckled comment) and one should work on hitting technique rather than the ability to wrap a wrist (or protect their thumbs). Stitches may break, but that's to be expected at this price point. I highly recommend them as a "must have" for building confidence, cardio, and stress therapy in a work out routine. These gloves are a great value and an excellent choice for training on a heavy bag.

Sufficient padding, long-lasting, and washable
When I set up my home gym in the fall of 2005, I got a heavy bag at a local sporting goods store. I had used one at the last commercial gym I trained at and really liked it. I bought a couple of pairs of boxing gloves with the bag. I used them for several years, until they began to smell so much I couldn't stand them. So I checked Amazon and looked for new gloves. These Everlast gloves appealed to me, as the description said they were washable, so I ordered a pair in April 2010. They worked just fine, padding my hands sufficiently for hitting the heavy bag. I tried washing them (in cold water and hang dry), and they came out just fine with no damage. So I ordered a second pair in June of the same year. That way, I always have one pair that doesn't smell, while I am washing the other pair. But I don't need to what them very often, maybe once or twice a year. I only hit the heavy bag once or twice a week for my morning cardio (I walk on other days), but I have been doing so with these gloves for over four years (it now being October 2014), and I've washed them several times. Both pairs are still in fine condition. So I am giving these Everlast gloves five stars for providing the needed padding for hitting a heavy bag, for being long-lasting, and for being washable.

Small but they work
Couldn't find the size listed on the order page. Assumed it was one size fits all which doesn't make much sense as I think about it now. Didn't occur to me at the time though. The gloves that showed up are marked small/medium. Fortunately my hands are about medium. If the gloves were any smaller at all I would not be able to use them. However.........I like them. They feel snug and secure. Comfortable. No slipping inside the gloves. NOT gonna fall off as I punch. I wanted more of a martial arts glove than a bulky boxing glove and that's what they seem to be (martial arts glove). No real padding on the sides/edges of the hands. Padding placed front and back of hand. Can't say about durability as I have used them only a few weeks but I see no problems. Four stars because I almost never give anything five stars. Edited Jan 2012 "Padding placed front and back of hand" is incorrect. I meant when the hand is curled into a fist the padding is front (front of the curled fist...facing the bag) and back of hand. If hand is flat, not curled into fist, padding is on back of hand/fingers and none on palm side. Sorry bout that. They're still in good shape.

Got a heavybag? Get these!
I love these gloves. I was looking for a nice pair of gloves to use when practicing on my heavybag, and this product was just what I wanted. Previously, I had a pair of MMA gloves I was using (yeah, I know, gotta be careful using those on a heavybag), and my knuckles were getting all scraped and bruised because of the lack of cushion. These heavybag gloves are great! Soft and cushioned so your hands don't get damaged when practicing, and at this price I would say it was one of the better purchases I made last year. These gloves fit me well too and I have larger hands. If you need a new pair of heavybag gloves and don't want to spend a lot on a pair from another brand, you will enjoy this product!

... Perfect!
I have a heavy bag and workout with dvd workouts. The problem with the standard boxing gloves is that I had to take my glove off in order to press play for the workout I wanted to do, as well as when I wanted to pause the workout, or even drink water, etc., I saw these online and decided to try them and I am so glad that I did. I can now push play and don't have to worry about rushing to try to put the glove back on so as not to lose too much workout time. Padding is great as well. FYI: They run small. I am female and my hands are small and they fit just right. I would say that these gloves are more for women with small hands. My hands measure, without the thumb, around the knuckles, 7.5, that's pretty small. I highly recommend this product.

Great value, but not the best protection
I have been using these for a few week. Overall, the value for the price on them is pretty good. They are not the best gloves, but for the price, cant really go wrong. My biggest problem with them is that they are fairly thin. Using them for an extended time does start to wear on the knuckles a little. I do really like that it has open thumb holes, and they are extremely easy to put on and take off. They are lightweight and breathable which is nice when really working up a sweat. I would recommend if planning to use sparingly and not punching a bag with full force repeatedly. For more often use, or full power punches, I'd recommend something with a little more padding.

Completely worth it
I use these every time I box they are so comfortable. I have super tiny hands and was having a lot of trouble finding something that fit well. These are great because I can use them and my sister borrowed them and her hands are not very small and they worked for her too. I use these with wraps and they work perfectly. Haven’t had issues with my knuckles getting cut up with these either which happened to me in a lot of gloves cause my hands had too much room. These are definitely worth your money!

Great Inexpensive training gloves
I bought these a couple of months ago, and have been using them pretty frequently. I am using these on a 100lb heavy bag. They are pretty comfortable, and seem to be holding up to the abuse well. The odd thing about these gloves is that your thumb is completely exposed - the picture shows thumbs on the gloves, but that is not the case. I have seen some complaints about the size and fit of these gloves - I have pretty large hands, and these fit well. They are easy to put on and remove. The gloves are made out of some stretchy spandex or neoprene material and have an elastic wristband. There is a thin layer of gel padding for the back of the hand. One thing I will say, is that these gloves get pretty hot after about 20 minutes of workout. Recommended as an inexpensive training glove.

Good quality gloves
Product as advertised and fast delivery. The gloves are a little snug at first but after a few rounds on the heavy bag they loosened up a little and fit great now. Would buy again.

not having too much of a wrist protection is actually a good, more realistic thing
positively surprised by these gloves ! they are very light, but do absorb a lot of impact when you hit the bag. Not sure how long they will last but for the price they seem to be quite durable. They leave your thumb unprotected and they are not so padded, so not for sparring. Also, they offer little to no wrist protection, so be sure you know how to properly throw a punch before using them intensively on the bag. But if you train for self defense, not having too much of a wrist protection is actually a good, more realistic thing. Very nice bag gloves for the price.
