Beautiful Black Finish LP look Guitar. Nice play ability.
Donner Electric Guitar LP Solid Body DLP-124B Short and to the Point Review: Oct 28, 2025. Well-built LP copy that looks great and sounds decent. It makes excellent wall art if you don’t want to play it. Long and Rambling Review: Wonderful knock off of Les Paul guitar. Finishing and feeling are great! I originally purchased this in Dec 2024 to be used as wall art. $110 for art is pretty cheap these days. I hadn’t really thought about playing it. When I picked it up to play last spring, I was surprised how good it played. It had only one sharp fret which I fixed in less than a minute with a fret file. If you are going to purchase inexpensive guitars, be prepared for smoothing out the play ability somewhat and changing the strings. Intonation is good enough although purists will diddle with it. Neck straight, caliper says 9-42 strings. This is my third Donner electric guitar. The first two are knock-offs of the Fender Thinline with the F-hole. They look and play well, which convinced me to pick up this LP. You’ll find my review on that guitar if you like -Donner 39 Inch Jazz Electric Guitar TL Thinline F Hole DJC-1000S. I have a pix of it with my Fender. Is it an LP? Not really but it tries really hard. It plays well but my ’59 Epi LP Gibson Custom Shop is almost effortless to play and has beaucoup sustain. My Epi LP is a low-end LP $1K guitar, but it’s hard to beat a $110 Donner guitar for just learning and having some fun with. See my pic with the Donner and the LP. The girl smiling through the flowers is my wife. One of the kids is a gigging musician with all the expensive gear and was surprised at the quality-price ratio of this guitar. The accessories are adequate: a guitar bag, picks and a strap. I really like these guitar straps – simple, effective and comfortable. I see that this guitar is out of stock at this time. Hey Donner, get more of these guitars in stock, they are a winner! Whether you’re a beginner or more, I think you’d like this guitar hanging around your house (literally). Pretty impressed, not going to lie!
Id like to start off with expectation. I hope most will read this because its important. I have now ordered 4 guitars from Amazon, two Glarry's and one Grote, and this LesPaul inspired guitar. The other 3 had neck pocket issues. This may be because they are made in the same factory with a different label put on them. The Grote was the worst of the 3, and I believe the body has a curve in it causing most of the issue. So you do get what you pay for. All three of those guitars are 100 dollars or less at the time of purchase. This guitar is priced 160 with at the time of review, 30 dollars off. Having said this, this is by far, the nicest guitar short of buying a brand name which easily would be double the money. My only real complaint is that it is a flat cut with no cap. Because of this it feels more like a jazz box when playing. Construction is beautiful and feels like its a quality instrument. So it is definitely worth doing some upgrades to. I read allot of reviews on this one before buying. Here is what i found. People complained about high frets, sharp frets, the strings, buzzing and intonation. I took these all with a grain of salt. I've bought Fenders, a Gibson, Gretch and a host of others. If it didn't already go through a set up before purchase, it will need to have one run on it. You wont find a playable out of the box guitar anywhere unless your buying something thats well over 1500 bucks! You could learn how to do these things on youtube for cost of tools. When i received this I was pretty shocked at how well constructed the guitar was, super shiny black paint that's flawless. Neck nice and straight with the perfect amount of relief, Binding around the headstock as well as the body. I took the strings off, straightened the neck and leveled the frets, 4 were slightly high This took about 20 minutes to accomplish. I then took a needle file and rounded the end of the frets over as well as taking 3 sharp ends off. I then cleaned the guitar and put 3 coates of cutting board oil on the fretboard because it was dry. Restring and set intonation. Sound, like a jazz box. It feels like a Gibson and plays like one. All I can say. This guitar though is not without faults. The machine heads are really stiff and hard to move, so tuning is a pain in the but. But it holds its tune fsirly well. The pickup rings dom look cheap and I think will look better with cream rings any way to match the binding. Im also thinking on replacing the humbuckers. I am trying to decide if I will stay whith chrome hardware or gold. Gold may make it pop. One thing is for sure, At the very least upgrade the bridge to a roller bridge Other than that, I think its a sweet guitar, the satin finished neck was a nice touch as well.

Impressive for the price point
First and foremost, this is not a high end guitar, it’s not a Gibson or even an Epiphone, But! For the $130 I spent after shipping, this guitar is a great value! It doesn’t feel cheap and doesn’t sound cheap, does it sound like a thousand dollar guitar? Of course not. It does sound and play much better than it’s price point would suggest, now I have a fairly large collection of guitars, mostly Jackson’s and Bc Rich at much higher costs and this little Donner holds up pretty well against them. I would say for a beginner this is perfect! You get the guitar, patch cord, strap, and gig bag for an extremely reasonable price and if for some reason the beginner loses interest your not out much money wise! The fit and finish of this guitar is beautiful and I’d imagine you could upgrade the electronics and tuners and really turn this into a attractive screamer for very little cost! This is a great little guitar and for the price it’s a steal!

Awesome beginner to intermediate guitar!
I LOVE this thing. Bought it as a lay-around guitar that I expected to not care about. It’s been over a year now and I keep it on a stand ready to go to strum on whenever I get an itch. I did replace the strings with a D’Addario set right off the bat, but that was my only “upgrade” to her. This and oil the fret boards with some decent oil when you do. She needs it and it makes her pop a little more. Guitar is gorgeous in this black. Admittedly at first I wasn’t a fan of the “off white” or ivory-ish tan-like color of the switch housing, but it’s growing on me as it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb as if it were pure white and doesn’t look so basic b***ch murdered out in all black, either. Look, it’s NOT a high price guitar so don’t expect things that you would from an expensive guitar. Like the pickups aren’t going to wow anyone anytime soon and are a little noisy….. ok, pretty noisy. The bridge feels a bit flimsy but after a year of regular play hasn’t shown any signs of giving up. Frets are surprisingly decent for this price point. Not super smooth like you find on a Solar or ESP but also not sharp or snaggy enough to rip a latex glove on. The most valuable thing about this girl is it gives room to grow and you can upgrade it SO easily. Tuners do their job. Don’t have to tune her as much as other, more expensive guitars that I’ve owned. Another extremely simple upgrade and a fairly inexpensive one if you shop around. My point being this girl has GREAT solid bones to work with AND looks pretty good for what you pay for. If you want to learn guitar, or want to get it as a gift for someone who does it’s a GREAT starter that leaves room to grow with the player and will keep them from having to take a 2nd mortgage or sell an organ for a fancy snobby name on the headstock for a good long time. I love this thing. Will definitely buy another Donner guitar in the near future!

Great LP for the price!
This is a great little LP; looks awesome, sounds way better than it should for this price, well constructed, and fun to play. The frets are surprisingly smooth. My fender strat and Hagstrom viking Dlx (around $1000 each) didn't have frets this clean. I was shocked to see that it shipped in the soft gig bag, in a thin cardboard box, with no foam around it. Mine arrived with no damage at all but I can understand how some of the other reviews show broken guitars. The strap is soft and comfortable, and the gig bag is your standard bag. I haven't used the 10ft cable since I have the Shure cordless guitar system. I'm playing it through a Fender Mustang GTX 100 and it sounds amazing! I added $65 in upgrades to it so far; multi contact output jack, Earnie Ball super locks for the strap, Guyker locking tuners (because their screw hole on the back lined up perfect), and I have a black toggle cover coming today. The guitar and upgrades came to the same price as the DIY kit I almost purchased. Side note: I wanted to keep the Donner tuner knobs but they don't fit over the Guyker shafts. Also the diameter of the new output jack was slightly larger than the jack cover plate. Out of the box I lowered the bridge 1 turn on the screws, tuned it, checked the neck (no adjustment needed), my fretboard was extremely dry (it looked like dog *@#* when it starts to turn white) so I put 3 coats of conditioner on it and it looks/feels a lot better. Over all I'm tickled I bought this thing. I can't wait to throw in some hot SDs!

Umm.....,UPDATE
Out of the box, it looks good. The finish in good as well as the knobs, tuners and bridge. Donner, however, didn't do much quality control as far as function goes. I haven't even checked the intonation, fret levels as the neck needs a whole lot of adjustment and the frets ends will rip the skin off your fingers. I imagine the pickups are adequate. I am confident I will dial it in as the materials feel good. It was on major sale so with a lot of work and modest mods(nut, pickups, tuners-they actually feel pretty good) it will be a quality player. For a beginner, especially with no setup experience, I don't think this guitar, for the condition this particular guitar came in, would be a good choice. Update: Donner actually replied to me regarding my review. I told them I am actually returning their guitar as it needs just way more work than I want to put into it. I have not heard back as I just sent a message to them. We will see how it turns out.

Excellent value, sounds great!
I have a respectable guitar collection. I have instruments worth thousands of dollars, and instruments worth barely a couple of hundred. I know what I like in an electric guitar. I want it to have a thin neck, a low action, and it needs to stay in tune. This guitar, first and foremost, is beautiful. Many friends have believed me when I tell them it was $1000, and are shocked when I tell them the real price. The finish is flawless. It is a high gloss black and the hardware shines beautifully. It is simple, classic and appealing to the eye. The action is perfect and makes playing chords or solos a breeze. The neck is smooth and a great diameter for moving quickly up and down the frets. The frets ends are smooth. The tuners work perfectly and this guitar stays in tune for days. I put high quality strings on it and play it through a nice amp, and man does this thing scream. I am very happy with this instrument and feel as though if I paid twice the amount, I would still be impressed. Donner is doing good things and this is just the latest example of how they're bringing quality in equipment for a bargain price. I would absolutely recommend this guitar to any beginner looking to learn, but this will please even a picky pro. I love it!

Incredible Value
This is a great value guitar. I purchased this as an experienced player for a beginner who is starting out at 40 years old. Naturally I wanted to make sure it was a decent guitar and all the important boxes were checked. Pros: -REALLY NICE finish and wood grain. -Decent quality tuners -Binding adds a nice appeal, that you usually don't see at this price point. -Pickups actually sound decent! -Great modern "C" feeling neck and it is pretty slim as well. -Great action and intonation out of the box (on mine) -Comes with a gig bag, strap, cable and hex key (to adjust neck relief) Cons: -Mine came with the volume pot loose. (Simple repair, just pull knob top and back plate, hold pot from back and tighten the 10mm nut on top, then replace knob top) but a novice might not know how to do that easily. - Some of the fret edges stick out A LITTLE. This one is a nitpicking thing, but you can feel the edges of the frets, which I am not use to when I see fretboard binding) Overall I would NOT hesitate to purchase again. This is a great guitar for the price and I think a beginner, someone just restarting to play, or even some intermediate players could find this to be a solid go to guitar.

Bra men kräver lite arbete
