Im giving this unit a 3 star rating until I get resolution of our UV Light failure. I will change the rating if it is resolved properly. We bought the unit March 21, 2025 (Less than two months ago) and it performed fine for several weeks. We saw an improvement in our pond clarity, but a few days ago I noticed the UV Light function was not working. I went through the trouble shooting and it did not change. I have emailed the manufacturer and am awaiting response. I will update upon resolution of our issue. I am updating my rating to a five star. As mentioned above, less than two months after I purchased the unit, the Control Ballast went out. This is the unit at the top of the filter that controls the UV light and the other electronic parts. After going through the warranty process with Aquascape, they sent me a new one which corrected the problem. So my Koi pond is now being UV treated and the clarity is already improving. The company stood behind their product and I am now fully satisfied with the product and would recommend/buy again.

I moved my pond to a new house after 16 years. I have never fought so hard with the weather to keep my pond clear. As a matter of fact, I lost the battle and my pond turned into pea soup. It has full sun, it has downpoured a lot this year, and temp in the 90's for most of the season. I used bacteria, algae killer, and did daily foam filter cleanings. Nothing worked. I bought this foam filter less UV filter and was sincerely skeptical. I did a quarter water change just to give the filter a chance. The water was still pea soup after the change but I hooked up the new filter and hoped for the best. I have not used any algae remover since hooking up the new UV filter. After a week it was grayish murky. A few days later I could see all of my fish strait to the bottom. Now i just have to work on the sediment layer on the very bottom with some organic digester. I will NEVER go back to foam filters and will ALWAYS be using UV from now on. It literally takes less than 5 minutes to clean, has an indicator light that says when it's dirty, and you don't even open the filter to clean it. I have only had to use the backwash 1 time in 20 days. Love this filter and would Recommended it to everyone.

I did a lot of research and decided to buy this filter. I liked the cleaning procedure. However, didn’t doesn’t work. The so-callled motor is supposed to swirl the bio balls around and clean the tank. The motor doesn’t work. Moreover the UA light crapped out after two days. Backwash feature works however it doesn’t empty the dirty water. Look elsewhere

A friend of ours who works for a local high end company that creates ponds and water gardens recommended this filter to us. We have been very happy with. It cleared the pond without having to flush it hardly at all. It worked a little slower than oir last filter but is totally woth it since it is so low maintenance. It really does a great job I gave it a 4 star rating only because the UV clarification stopped working after only a month. We had to contact the manufacturer but they sent out a new balast part within a day and now it is working fine again. Aquascape was responsive and easy to work with since we were still within the 1 yr warranty. It made us a little nervous that the filter stopped working so soon though. We're wondering if there is a defect with this model. But so far the new part solved the problem and hopefully it will not fail again.

If you've got a koi pond that's dirty & green & you can't see your fish , buy this filtration system. I've got a 2000 gallon koi pond with 15 fish over 18" long & the water was green & full of small particles that my current system couldn't clean. After only 3 days of running the new system with the UV light, it's as clear as drinking water & I can once again enjoy my pond. The product is a bit pricy , but worth every penny. I strongly recommend buying this if you're having water issues with your pond. 5/5

I am beyond impressed with this filter! I have had my pond 15 years and had many filters that cost more and worked less. My pond is in full sun and usually gets pretty green over the summer. This year I also had more muck in it than I wanted. I purchased this filter on the recommendation of my local pond shop. Set up was SUPER easy, the hardest part was getting the hoses on, I used a hair dryer to warm the hose and it worked great. In just 5 days my pond went from cloudy and green to absolutely crystal clear. Before the new filter I could only see my fish at feeding time, now I can see them even at night. I have a huge black Koi and I can see every inch of him even in detail. This week the little cleaning reminder light came on so I figured I would give the back flow option a try and WOW was it easy. It took me less than five minutes from start to finish and the water started flowing crystal clear again. This made maintenance so easy I am thinking about getting the smaller unit for an above ground pond! Buy it you will NOT regret it!

I had several different filters for my pond through the years. I thought I'll give this a try because cleaning the filters and media is starting to get a hassle for me. I'm 77 years old and cleaning the filter every week was getting too much for me. This was very easy to hook up, I have not buried it yet, but will in the spring and put a fake boulder over it. After hooking it up I watched the progress, not impressed, after 3 days there was not much change in the clearness of the water, it had been quite green and cloudy. But then one morning it was crystal clear I can see every people on the bottom of the pond. I turned the UV light into the 6 hours a day position fully expecting the water to get cloudy again. No, the water stayed crystal clear, I have not yet had to clean the filter, but backwashing it like a swimming pool should cut the job of cleaning the filter down quite a bit. No more slimy sponges that take forever to rinse out, no taking the filter apart. I'm very pleased with this purchase, definitely would purchase again. I will update this review if it becomes necessary.

Installed about 4 weeks ago. Performance so far has exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical the uv bulb wattage would be effective. It is, no algae anywhere. Filtration is good, water is crystal clean. Biomedia with venturi action does a good job at trapping debris. Backwash works well and is a great feature. Definitely reccomend

Después de 5 días de haberlo instalado vi los resultados que esperaba. Antes tenía agua verde y era difícil dar mantenimientos a mi antiguo filtro de agua. Con este sistema el agua es cristalina, elimina las algas del agua, sin embargo se siguen generando algas en paredes, piso y piedras. Para ello existe el IonGen de Aquascape. Yo lo ocupo 24/7 con la bomba de la misma marca. Hasta ahora vale mucho la pena la inversión. Mis Kois y tortugas están sanas y los veo perfectamente nadar ya que el agua está limpia todo el tiempo. El mantenimiento es de lo más fácil ya que no tienes que estar abriendo ni lavando esponjas o arenas. Únicamente das vuelta a una perilla y el agua sale a presión en forma de retrolavado.

This year chemicals and changing the water met with only short term success to keep the 800 gallon pond clear. After 10 days this filter has my water crystal clear. My only issue is that the back flush does not completely clean out the filter as well as i would expect.. i have a 1250 GPH pump pushing through the filter. maybe after more use i will find out that this a non issue. The unit was bigger than expected but i am very happy with its operation.

I have had an above ground pond for 2 years. This year due to the weather the water got very cloudy and almost green. I tried draining and changing water but it still turned. Before I bought this filter I could only see the fish when they came to eat. I also spent t around $100 on chemicals ect. That only last the summer season. Desperate to have a good pond I bought this filter. Within one week I could see all the way to the bottom of the pond and I haven't used any other chemicals. It seems well built and does exactly what it needs. Some people are complaining that it doesn't come with a pump but I'm not too sure who has a pond without some sort of pump to move water either to a fountain or waterfall. If your water is murky this is the solution!
