Excellent Headlamp For An Excellent Price
For a low priced headlamp, this is a great product. Admittedly I don't have much experience with other headlamps, but this one makes me feel like I won't need to. What you get: This headlamp ships with the headlamp itself, and a set of three lenses (Red, Green, Blue), that you can use to change the color of the light emitted. Setting it up: The Princeton Tec Quad LED Headlamp is pretty easy to set up; to install the batteries you only have to remove one screw, which you can do without the need for a screwdriver, and then insert the batteries (it takes 3 AAA batteries). Switching out the lenses is a little bit trickier, and I can't remember whether there were any kind of instructions telling you how to. That being said, it's still easy to do. Simply pry up on the little tabs which can be found on either side of the power switch (I use the tip of a knife), and swing the cover forward. You can insert whichever of the lenses you want, and then close the cover until you hear the snaps of the tabs locking back into place. Use: The headlamp has three brightness levels and a strobe function. You press once for the lowest setting, and then press once for each brightness setting increase. If you press again after reaching the brightest setting, the headlamp begins strobing. To use whichever optional lens you inserted, all you have to do is slide it up over the white LED bulbs, and when you don't want the colored light anymore, you can just slide it back down. The headlamp also tilts forward and has quite a few different degrees of tilt that you can choose from. In my experience with it, the Princeton Tec hasn't once flopped forward on me, even after several high impact landings. It stays firmly in place, no matter what angle you've got it tilted at. The headband it comes with is a very comfortable neoprene/elastic feeling band. I've worn it with and without a hat so far and haven't had a problem with it being too big or too small (I've got a pretty big head). The white light is pretty far reaching (I'd say about 50 feet, which I consider to be far reaching anyway), and bright. The lenses take a little time to adjust to since they dim the light down, but they'll help you find your way while preserving your night vision capabilities. Con: There is one con to this headlamp, and it has to do with storing your extra lenses. The package includes a little clip that you can attach to the headband, and I've found it pretty useful for storing one of the extra lenses. I'm assuming that's what it's for, since I can't find any other purpose for it. The downside is that it only holds one. So if for some reason I need to use all of my lenses in one night, I'll be able to quickly switch out for one, but if for some strange reason I find myself needing the third, I'll have to go digging in a pocket or backpack for the tiny baggy holding the tinier lens. This isn't a big problem at all, since I don't foresee needing a red, green, and blue lens all in one night, but it just makes more sense to have them all in one place. It's not enough to knock off a star, just a mild nuisance. In summary, this headlamp is a great investment for anyone who might want to go on night hikes, play airsoft at night, or really do anything in the dark. It's definitely a more convenient alternative to a flashlight so that you can keep your hands free and still have light. It's comfortable, versatile, and very easy to use. I could open it up and install new batteries with gloves on and no screwdriver, which is a plus. Definitely would recommend, especially since it's list price is so low.

Great head lamp
Used this for my camping trip last month. It worked so well for my midnight potty break. It’s bright and left my hands free. I would definitely but again.

Excellent product with rock-solid warranty
I was given a used Princeton Tec headlamp by a friend in 2017, and I got probably a year or more of active run-time out of it over the seven years I had it, using it during eight-to-midnight and midnight-to-four navigation watches on a ship. Finally, the rubber button started wearing out from the immense use I'd gotten from it, so I bought a second one. This second lamp ended up having a switch issue turn up shortly after I started using it; it would turn on just fine, but needed several clicks to turn back off. Princeton Tec told me to send it in for warranty replacement, and even agreed to warranty that first one I'd used to death. I paid the shipping to get the two lights to them, and a few weeks later two brand-new lights showed up in my mailbox. Consider me completely satisfied. I use these lights primarily with the red filter to provide the minimum necessary illumination when I need to preserve night vision. For me as a watchstander underway at sea, it's perfect. It's also excellent for use when stargazing or amateur astronomy, to say nothing of just the general usefulness of a head-lamp.

Good performance for the money, and made in USA!
I like that the first button press turns on the lowest light, then subsequent pushes brighten the light. The low setting is sufficient for most use within 15 feet, and you won't notice the benefit of the higher settings until you look out to 30 feet or more. The filters work as advertised and cut the brightness way down! The band fits comfortably, the housing is solid and water resistant, and I appreciate that instead of France or China this thing is made in the USA. My only doubt about the product is its level hinge. It's made of lightweight plastic and doesn't feel like it will withstand rough handling.

If you’re in Aviation this is the best option for you!
10/10 would recommend to anyone in Aviation. I always hated how most head lamps with red light were way too bright and it would create glare on my GPS, gauges and or make it hard to look for traffic without having to turn it off completely. Or the opposite and the product was just cheaply made, and I didn’t have the option to go brighter and I could barely make out the names on my switch’s. This head lamp is perfect, it feels like durability plastic, I can turn the brightness up to the highest notch when doing preflight. Then to the middle setting when I am on the ground to see all my switches perfectly. Lastly, when in cruise I can turn it down to the lowest setting so I can better see traffic; while not having any glare on my GPS and G5’s. All without once worrying that I am gonna be absolutely blinded by clicking a button wrong and turning on the white light like most headlights. Lol.

It's all you need
I've had mine for 18+ years and used it on multiple work ups, deployments, and exercises. Finally broke at the hinges. This one is the exact model from back then. No changes to design. Its perfect for its usage and its grunt proof. All the fancy lithium powered stuff burns thru batteries. You also don't need any more lumens than this. Headlamps are meant for lighting up what your working with in front of you, not for room clearing.

What's not to like?
Great headlamp at a competitive price. This is my 2nd Princeton Headlamp (first still operates fine after 9 yrs of regular use) and, after trying 2 others among the better brands among the "top 10" headlamps by several sources, I went back to Princeton and find this model to have everything I need. The switch is easy and intuitive to operate and the "red light" lens flips down easily at night when you don't want to be blinded by white light. The battery duration is very good and changing the 3 readily available AAA cells is trouble free with the battery door being held closed by a small straight slot knurled head screw that can be turned using a dime, key, knife or by thumb and finger, as if winding a watch. Mine has seen plenty of use in hard wind driven rain and hasn't shown any sign of leakage. No negatives and plenty of positives for this headlamp

Highly reliable product
I've had this for almost 7 years now. I've used the heck out of it and it's travelled with me around the world. It's a very well made product and the power consumption is very well tuned to last you a long time. Id recommend this to anyone for any type of job.

Must have headlamp for tactical / emergency situations
I purchased the headlamp to replace a much older version of the same lamp that suffered a catastrophic battery failure. Up until the battery exploded inside the case and leaked acid destroying the old headlamp i had hundreds of hours using it in operations and training with the military. The lamp is high quality, bright and comes with a selection of fliters that you can install to suit your needs. Dependible a d well made. Never leave home without it. Only down side is you can only choose one filter to install. I originally had red but this time around i have opted for green to assist with map reading. Highly recommended

Excelente linterna

Nice and light on the head
I use it mainly for its red light capability without having to fiddle with different modes. Not the brightest light out there at the price but more than adequate for most tasks. The angle adjustment is a bit stiff but looks solid enough. Nice and light on the head.
