Good, clean fun -- at least this season. Seems that each episode is well filmed and there seems to be good character development. Good idea to use the original Flash TV actor in this series as Barry's dad. Surprising twist with Dr. Wells. Like the cross over with the other DC series (Arrow, Supergirl [the Flash showed up on one of the episodes in the first season of Supergirl, which we are also watching]). Nice to see the outtakes as well, when provided. There is a lot of trash on TV these days; it was nice to sit down and watch episodes that are not in that category. We give it five stars! Review: His name is Barry Allen ... He's the fastest man alive - Recently watched season one again a second time, an to be honest it's almost as good the second time. Really wasn't Into the superhero show thing but I caught an episode of this an I was hooked . The show itself is so good that it got me interested in the other superhero /comic shows. I'm a big fan of arrow an Gotham an super girl , but it all started because of this show. Another thing this show did was got me re-interested in comicbooks again , of which the flash seris is one I read . Simple put , this is a well written action packed feel good show with one of the best cast on television .you don't want to miss it

All the best you'd want in a family show & a hero!
Excellent show, far surpassing the 1990 series (though great to see those stars John Wesley Shipp and Amanda Pays in cameo roles here). Much more realistic about a young man gaining extraordinary abilities through a lightning strike yet at the same time retaining his inbred humility AND humanity. Grant Gustin makes a hero you want to cheer for & even cry with when he's down--because his mom's death & dad's imprisonment are the prime motivations behind his constant desire for true justice for all--even criminals in StarLab's "pipeline" at next to last season episode. He also heeds the advice of a great team behind him (despite Dr. Wells' deviousness), always wanting the best for everyone yet expecting very little in return--a true giving spirit that's hard to find in this world today. Hooray for this Flash!

The Flash ROCKS!!!!
I became interested in this series after I had purchased season 3 of Arrow. What a PLEASANT surprise! The writers are brilliant, the actors truly stellar (Beyond cool to see Tom Cavanagh come back to prime time TV!) and the guest appearances just rock! I can't wait for Season 2 to go to DVD! But i was able to catch most of it on TV! If you love your DC characters, you are going to love this!

Great show in good packaging.
A good presentation for a great television show. On the show: The Flash is a good storyline with a cast that sells it. It's a bit transparent, but it seems like it's been written that way intentionally. I find it a better show in general than some other similar shows which ended up being more like a soap opera (I'm looking at you Arrow). On the box: Small box, same size as many regular DVD packages, I really like that. Don't waste space on my shelf.

A good start to what I hope is a long-running series
In the Marvel Universe superheroes are often angst ridden. Wolverine, for example, has issues with his immortality and is in love with two women, neither of whom he can have. Spiderman is almost always broke and more than a little awkward socially. In the DC Universe they tend not to be full of insecurities: Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and the rest have a pretty good handle on who they are and what they are about. When they have choices to make, they make them without a lot of agonizing. Barry Allen, aka The Flash, is angst ridden in the first season of the series and when it comes to making a decision - especially if it's about an issue that's morally ambiguous - he can't seem to do so without a lot of whining, soul searching, and, often, quite a few tears. In short, he seems to have the emotional maturity of an eighth grader despite the fact he's 25 years old, a college graduate with a responsible job and can outrun just about anything and everything. Even a bullet. If I was disappointed in this first season of what I hope will be a long-running series, it's the fact that so many of the characters The Flash interacts with on a regular basis come off as junior high kids emotionally. They're smart - crazy smart in some cases - and yet they can't seem to confront life's issues and relationships without dissolving. They make bad choices based on what appears to be a hormonal imbalance, not the facts of the case before them; choices that almost always wind up putting themselves and the population of Central City in danger. That said, there is a lot to like about this first season. For example: Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West, who raises a young Barrey Allen when his mother is murdered and his father wrongfully sent to prison for her death, is excellent in the role. So too are Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells and Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein. The younger members of the cast - Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Pannabaker as Dr. Caitlin Snow and Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon - do credible jobs in their roles. The special effects are above grade and the villains are pretty interesting with a wide variety of evil powers ranging from the ability to turn into poisonous gas to the ability to control the weather. I also liked the fact that the writers regard interracial and same-sex relationships as no big deal. Barry Allen, for example, was raised by a black man and is in love with a black woman - though he's too insecure to tell her that until it's too late and she's fallen for someone else; West's boss is gay and that's accepted without issue. The writers get big points from me for that. I also enjoyed the appearances of other D.C. characters in the first season, especially The Arrow and Dr. Felicity Smoak. I was troubled by two things however: The first is what I think is a continuity issue, the second an emotional one. During the final episodes of this first season viewers learn that Harrison Wells is really Eobard Thawne, a man who was born 136 years in the future. However, his motivation for traveling back in time is to kill off his nemesis - Barry Allen - when The Flash is 11 years old. I'm unclear as to how he and the Flash become enemies given that time frame. Surely Barry Allen cannot still be alive when Thawne is born. Secondly, Iris West's love interest in this first season kills himself to, essentially, prevent Eobard from returning to the future. I'm not sure that Iris, who Barry has been in love with since they were in elementary school, can ever put something like that behind her and - later - be in love with him. Her boyfriend's selfless sacrifice would always be an issue, especially - I think - with characters that are as emotionally unstable as these younger members of the cast are written. Season One is entertaining if a little sappy but a good start for a series that, as I said before, I hope will run for a long time.

Never Did I Think....
I never thought I'd live to see the day when I'd watch a show based on what I once considered to be one of the lamest super heroes in comic book history. Boy was I mistaken. I caught a clip from season two (won't say what it was in case the person reading this hasn't watched it) and it caught interest enough to buy this season. Show is well acted with most of my praise going to Barry Allen's and Harrison Wells' actors, the story is awesome with some twists and turns you don't see coming. If you don't know a lot about The Flash I'd recommend watching this. I knew next to nothing about The Flash and still enjoyed it. Though I will say this: there is a cliffhanger ending that leaves you unable to wait for season two. Beyond that, I loved it.

Disney/Marvel may be king of Comic-based movies, but DC/Warner is giving them a run for their money on television shows. On its own, Flash is a great show. But on its own, it is also a little disjointed. I got four or five episodes into this first season before I realized how this interconnects and runs parallel with DC/Warner's "Arrow" series. During the "Previously, on the Flash" wind-up, they started showing a whole lot of events, and a whole whack of characters I didn't remember from previous episodes. After binge-watching three seasons of Arrow, it all fell into place, and the series as a whole is better for it. Season 2 of Arrow introduced Barry Allen, then put him in a coma so they could coincide the beginning of Season 3 with the launch of Flash Season 1. Arrow3 and Flash1 then ran at a parallel pace, so some times the Flash shows up in Starling City, other times the Arrow visits Coast City. It's genius on the level of Disney/Marvel's connected movie universe. But what make it work so well is that Flash deals in the supernatural or superhuman, while Arrow fights regular street crime (with the occasional Mirakuru lunatic). So neither show suffers from being a re-tread of the other. Specific to just Flash, I find it the more light-hearted and comical series. The actors are all giving their A-Game, with special shout-out to just how loveable Carlos Valdes portrays Cisco Ramone. Best character in the series thus far, and that's from a list of really great characters. I highly recommend this show, and can't wait for the DVDs of Season 2 (in which I hear, King Shark makes a debut, and looks AMAZING).

Season 1 of this action-adventure series follows Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), an assistant police forensic investigator who was orphaned when his father was falsely imprisoned following the mysterious murder of his mother. The season begins with Allen being struck by lightning during an intense storm caused by a particle accelerator explosion that bathes the city with an unusual form of radiation. The strike puts Allen in a coma for nine months. When he wakes up, he quickly learns he can move at superhuman speeds. It's a fate that also befalls others in the wake of the explosion and storm, creating several "metahumans." Allen then uses his newfound power to fight crime and go on a hunt for his mother's true killer. The CW has taken a low rate super hero and in a flash (see what I did there! ) turned him into something that amazing and worth watching. Season one has all the drama, thrills and mystery that will leave you wanting more. But wait you say, the DC universe movies have tended to suck or just been plain stupid. Well the DCtverse is turing out to be amazing. You won't be able to stop watching and it will leave you breathless for the release of the second season!!
