**Q: Will I get the benefits of using a 3 prong surge protector using this 2 prong adapter?**
A: Not completely. You can screwin  the middle prong to the wall outlet to get some grounding.

**Q: Can you safely plug a power strip into these?**
A: You need to fasten the outlet wall plate screw over the green tab in order to complete the path to ground. This will only work if the outlet itself is grounded. Then use an outlet tester (you can buy them at hardware stores) the check if you have a path to ground.

**Q: Does anyone know how to make sure this thing is grounded?  The screw has to go through the metal part, correct?**
A: Yes.  plug in the grounding adapter and install the screw.  Then plug a outlet tester into the 3 prong end of the adapter.  it should indicate if there is a ground to the outlet.  If the outlet box is metal and grounded, the screw in the duplex outlet will normally be grounded also.
