Question 1

I don't like the idea of any device connecting to an external server. Can this be disabled and the device controlled without access to their Server?

Accepted Answer

Yes you can disable the cloud server access function. You would have to then manage the device locally using only its internal web configuration pages. The ezOutlet would still send ping tests to the Internet and reboot when the service is lost unless you also disable this feature (Manual Control). You can also disable its NTP function and manually set the system time.

Question 2

Will this reset if the router completely locks up and stops responding to LAN traffic?

Accepted Answer

The default settings monitor for access to the Internet and then power cycle the attached device when the Internet is no longer reachable.  You can change the target IP to monitor to be your router's LAN IP address and then the ezOutlet will only power cycle the router when the router's LAN port stops responding.

Can i turn switched circuit on or off manually (without having a schedule) using ezdevice app?

I have four of these units and know them well. Yes, you can turn off and/or reboot manually. In fact, that's exactly how I use them. We work remotely using GoToMyPC and occasionally a computer locks up. When this happens, I manually reboot, saving myself a trip to the office to do it in person. I have been using this device in this manner for  a while, and it has never failed to get the job done. Highly recommended.
