Excellent charger
Long leads, easy to use very effective as both a short and long term charger. Has a clear display to indicate how far it is through the charging process, battery charge value, fast and slow charging for both 12 and 24v. Robust build quality - i have dropped it a couple of times, no issues. Recommend

Amazing product
The car battery charger with overcharge protection has been an absolute lifesaver. Its intelligent design and safety features make it a top-notch choice for anyone needing to maintain or revive a vehicle's battery. The overcharge protection ensures that I can leave it connected without any worry, knowing that it won't damage the battery. The user-friendly interface and clear display make it a breeze to operate, even for those with limited technical knowledge. Its versatility to work with various battery types and sizes is a significant advantage, and the charging process is efficient. This charger has saved me from countless dead battery situations, and the peace of mind it offers is truly priceless. It's a must-have for every vehicle owner.Just a shame I had to return it as it wasn't suitable for all my vehicles and buy the lower model

More confusing than smart
So the Ring smart battery charger. Is it all that smart? They make some bold claims about it.It will charge a battery no doubt about that at all.About the item and this is for the 8A one. They tell you it will put a battery through. A 7 stage charging cycle doesn’t just dump charge into the battery: it applies a precisely calibrated charge that improves the battery condition and helps reduce sulphisation. But it wont show what stage of that 7 stages it is running at the time.So I guess you just have to take that on blind faith. There are other chargers out there that show each stage that the charge is taking. But with the Ring one you don’t get that,The RSC808’s 7 stage charge cycle also automatically switches to maintenance mode once it detects that the battery is full, preventing damage from overcharging.Yes nearly all smart chargers go into that mode. Some more information they have with the 8 amp one reads as follows.About this itemDual Function: 8A Charger that will recharge your battery for optimum performance and then go into maintenance mode for long term connection12V and 24V Setting: Suitable for motorbikes, Cars, Vans and TrucksStop / Start Compatible: Safe to use with Stop/Start battery technologyFast Charging: 4-8 Amp settings for faster charging timesComplete Charging: 7 stage charging process, including reconditioning, ensure optimum performance12V and 24V Setting: Suitable for motorbikes, Cars, Vans and Trucks. Well this is confusing. As the 4A and the 6A models. Both have a dedicated program for doing motorbikes 6V and 12V.Now while the 8A states can be used for motorbike batteries it lacks the dedicated program switch. So maybe Ring can explain that one or at least install the required settings. But the 8A will do 24V batteries. Now be aware if your battery falls below a certain voltage No smart battery charger will charge it.It has to be tricked into believing there is a battery connected to it to be charged. The Ring models are no different in that respect. You can find lots of information on how to trick this not to smart charger into believing there is a battery connected to it. On line.None of the so-called smart chargers have any information as to what voltage a battery has to drop to before it is no longer going to be recognized as connected by any smart charger. The Ring smart charger is well made weather proof and dust proof. Unlike the older trickle chargers that did not know when to stop. The modern one is safer. Smart is the new word for safer.I have no hesitation in recommending it as a charger. Doing the stop start battery is the reason I got it. As older chargers are not capable of charging such. You can charge your battery while it is in the car. As always safety first. It is a reasonably priced charger and there are a few models to choose from.Photos are of the 8A and the 6A models and that confusing motorbike statement regarding the 8A model.Maybe Ring can clear that upThe 4 star’s is because of the confusion as to motorbikes on the information on the 8A model.Update on charger performance on a dead batterySomeone put an AGM battery into a non-stop-start Van.Never a good idea to do so as the alternator is not a smart charge device.Plus all and any guarantees that come with any AGM battery go out the window as soon as you connect them to a non-stop-start vehicle.Because they are not the recommended vehicle for them. This battery was sitting around for a few months. On the test it had a volt reading of 6 volts. So dead to all the world as far as a battery goes. The charger showed the expected smart charger Err, That is not really an Err. Just the charger is to dumb to know it is connected to a battery..Simple solution, connected another battery to it with some jump leads.Just for a moment with the leeds still connected. I connected the charger to the jump leads on the dead battery. Then disconnected them from the good battery. Tricking the not so smart charger into charging the battery it could not find the first time. Now I set the charger to the car mode normal chargeLeft it connected for 36 hours bringing the charge up to 14 volts. Then I removed the charger allowing the battery to settleIt is now standing at 12.7 volts and has been for the past 20 hours.

Brilliant
Great price-easy to use-box layout is useless, throw it-the one negative is the hanging hook does not swivel. Having extra 2 leads for screw down batteries is a welcome accessory. Def recommend

Intelligent battery charger
Bought this to charge the start stop battery in my car after I left the lights on. The goods arrived very quickly and allowed me to fully charge the battery to a state that the start/stop function of the car was fully functional again. Have lent to a number of other people to charge their batteries and in each case the product has performed perfectly. I have been very satisfied with the product.

So far so good.
I’m certainly glad I bought this when I did as the weather has got seriously cold. I thought I would check both my vehicles batteries - they are both stop/start - and if this charger was to be believed, were quite low. Charging to full didn’t seem to take too long - a few hours to top them up. I’ve no idea what it does but I like the fact there was a mode for charging in cold weather. And it’s nice to see a level going up when you’re charging; my previous battery charger was a basic Halfords one and you never knew when it was going to be full. It wasn’t really rated enough for the batteries I was trying to charge either ….. who knows, I may have been damaging them.Instructions are easy it’s and not too big, so you can shut your bonnet whilst charging (whilst being careful of the cables, obviously), and I personally think this is pretty good value for something as good as this.

Faulty car battery charger
Doesn’t work. Constantly flashes Er 1 code. Waste of money. Would give zero rating if I could.

Stop-Start batteries will thank you
Never had a car with Stop-Start before this current vehicle, & nowhere in any literature did it specify about specific charging requirements, so consequently over time I killed my battery using my trusty standard charger. At this point I became keenly aware of the difference & after reading reviews chose this brand/model. Having access to other vehicles, motorbikes, friends with cars/bikes/vans that might ask, etc.. I figured the big boy of the bunch was the one for the me. It is so simple to use, just hook it up, select your mode & away you go. The display is clear, the controls uncomplicated, the results speak for themselves. My batteries are all in tip top condition according to my battery tester, thanks to regular top-ups, maintainence mode sessions when not in use for longer periods, & using the proper charging device, of course.
