Its perfect for starting chicks in a brooder. I use a large cardboard box with hardware cloth taped to the sides so we can watch 'em and be entertained. Its half the price of big box store kits and works perfectly to start out for a few weeks. Nothing works perfect for new chicks since they will hop all over everything you put in there. Pop on it too. Once they get big enough you'll want to come up with something they can't scratch food out of and nipple waters. These are small so they don't take up much floor space in the brooder box. I can't see why anyone would have any negatives unless they just have never had chicks before and expect perfection for the few bucks it costs. If your new, this is all you need. This package worked out well for me and I think it's worth the money

All products have been working out great for our chicks. Great for young ones. Ours are now 8 weeks old. Will buy larger feeder and water container in about a month from now and save these for when we have little ones again.

Although they are cheap plastic, and arent meant for long term, abuse.. They served there purpose well for 6 weeks.. We still use the lamp, feeders were a little flimsy and can be difficult to refill or clean and put back together.. But you get what you pay for.. i now have a chick set up..

Very cheaply made plastic feeder and waterer. The book is a pamphlet with silly information, not an educational book on caring for chicks like I was hoping to give to my kids. The bulb was intact but the light was banged up and bent despite being in a perfectly undamaged box so it was like that before packing. The best part was the chick feeder (the rectangular feeder) as it helps reduce waste from the chicks scratching. Otherwise, not a great purchase. I bought better quality construction feeder and water separately. Pretty much everything would have been better and about the same price to buy separately.

Love this kit!! Everything is easy to use and easy to set up. Perfect for the beginner like me! I did end up swapping the heat lamp for a heat plate because the lamps scare me and I can't regulate the chicks heat as well with it- I either get it to hot or cold. Everything was exactly as described and I will end up reusing this set over and over again

We are newcomers to raising chickens, so when we got our chicks a few days ago we received our kit the same day. We are very happy with the product and our chicks are too!

Kit works good for the beginner poultry keeper. Hatched a handful of quail and the kit has everything you need. Not high quality but enough to suffice til you build up.
