Great pump, good price, couple notes though
Purchased two of these to update two of my current bilge pumps. Very easy to swap out with my existing Rule 1500 pumps. The pump comes with several different switch mounting positions. Which makes getting a good trigger level much easier than a float. The pump comes with a check "flap" that sandwiches in between a washer and the output fitting. Tip: when you tightening the fitting it will spin the flap hinge point. So, set the hinge point at the 9 o'clock position and when you tighten it will spin up to the 12 o'clock position. Which is where you want it. That way the flap is hanging down instead of to the side or hinging at the bottom. Construction wise, this feels like a solid piece of tech. It weighs in at least twice as much as the Rule pump. It is also much larger. Think a little larger in height and diameter than a quart sized paint can. The switch is roughly the size of a deck of playing cards. Wiring is a direct swap for what you most likely have now. Couple things I found out when changing out pumps. The surveyor recommended up sizing the pumps because the gph combined didn't meet AYBC recommendations. Turns out the manufacturer of our boat installed 5 amp breakers on all of the bilge pumps. Which was 10 amps too small for the Rule 2000 pumps that they installed. A prior owner downsized the pumps to Rule 1500 (dumb) instead of figuring out what was going on. I didn't realize any of this until I went to replace the pumps and they kept blowing the breakers. These Johnsons rated to run at 7 amps. But, I'm guessing they drawl a little more at start up. You'll want to make sure that your breakers and wiring are the correct size. The Rule 1500 is a 7 amp pump too. So, it was a miracle that they ran at all. Good thing they were never really put to the test. Anyway, crisis averted and we're all done up nice now. For the price, quality measured in heft, mounting options and no float switch these pumps are a gimme. Mike from the lifesaport blog

Do not trust this pump!!!
I have went through 4 of these pumps in a year and a half. They work great for a few trips but start making a load noise. Wasn’t sure if it was something Getting in it or maybe it was being ran dry so I kept trying them . But that wasn’t the case . I fish 60 to 80. Mile offshore and the bilge pump is one of the most important safety devices on the boat.

Pump failed.
Pump has failed after being installed for a little over 13 months so I gave it one star. My update: the company, SPXFLOW, promptly replied to my email inquiry on warranty of the failed pump. I submitted proof of purchase and they issued a replacement pump in less than 24 hours. I still have to replace the old pump with the new so that is the rationale for 4 stars. Overall I am very happy with the response from the manufacturer.

Easy install, quiet motor
Good price easy install, replaced gpx jhonson1600.. in wellcraft 250 coastal, bottom basket plastic clamps a little flimsy be careful not to bend when attaching pump, other than that quiet and good water flow.. float switch included

The Titanic could have used a few of these
This pump was easy to install and I like how the switch can be mounted in different positions. I re-used (large diameter) existing hoses for a defunct manual bilge pump, and when this kicked on it shot a geyser about three feet out the side of my boat. It has been a very reliable pump!

Went bad in six months
We used this pump in the bilge of our Catalina 36 recently replacing a Rule 2000 gph pump. Installation was simple and we used a small piece of teak on the top to hold the pump in place. It appears to be well constructed externally, however the internal working of the pump are of poor construction. This pump is not designed to handle salt water as non-replaceable internal parts corrode as a result of the salt. Additionally, the pump has a problem with handling any size particulate matter. The pump failed within six months of operation and he service department is a runaround. If you are using this for a salt water application, look elsewhere.
